Charles Street is the gay area, a few bars on there but not sure on hotels, does it have to be a gay hotel? Can't it just be an anything hotel near the gay pubs? Lots of hotels in Cardiff, the price all depends on if it's a rugby weekend or if the stadium has anything on, if so then all the prices triple and you can't get a room for love nor money, assuming it isn't one of those weekends, St David's in the Bay is out of town and therefore away from Charles Street but very nice - but expensive, or if you want to stay near Charles St try the marriot or for a bargain the Park Inn, formerly Jury's do very nice rooms for great prices, or if you want something more basic try The Big Sleep, all are near Charles St.

the st davids hotel in the bay is good, if you want a cheapie the blue dragon on newport road is ok or the travel lodge onthe a 48 the freindly hotel onthe m4 a470 junction if you want to be right in the centre try the angel hotel there are about 60 hotels in cardiff and twice as many guest houses all the big names

If you stay in The Big Sleep(book with 'late rooms.com') and I understand their bar is THE place to be seen
