the only danger is that if u set the refresh rate to a value higher than your monitor can support it , u will get a darker image because the fluorescent compound behind the glass wonn't be proper energized by the electron beam...so it's not a danger actually...but for your eyes anithing above 50Hz is good....75Hz is almost perfect...but u should know that the brain is not feeling good with refresh rates under 150Hz....so go as high as possible.

It depends on the monitor.

Most monitors in the last few years have been capable of 100 Hz, but what will happen is that you will reduce the resolutions available to you as the monitor hits the horizontal scan rate limit.

The question is why would you want to do this? At 75 Hz about 2% of the population can perceive flicker. At 85 Hz it is about 0.2% or less.

As you increase the vertical scan rate, for a given resolution, you increase the horizontal scan rate - which may put that resolution out of range for the monitor, and the pixel clock. This means that each pixel takes less time and the monitor will spend less (as a overall percentage) time showing the correct level and more time ramping the image up or down to get to the correct level.

You image will be fuzzier and vertical lines will be dimmer.

The only danger is the monitor won't be able to keep up with the signal and it will show a scrambled image or won't show anything.

Just try anything you like and when Windows says "Do you want to keep these settings?" you can say yes. If you can't read that, it will go back to your previous settings after 20 seconds or something.

I didn't set mine to the maximum, it makes the monitor work to much. I have mine set at 75Hz. Fast enough for games, no flicker, and not so fast that the "gun" saves 25 passes every second.

use grey background on screen check flicker rate set so u dont see any flicker could be 60 or 70 etc.. just becuase you have a setting for 100 does not mean anything if your screen is flickering and is obnoxious!!!!!!!!!!
