The "flat earth", the fact that people overseas will work for pennies, consumers and end users don't care about the quality of the product, and there are few or no tax incentives for a corporations to keep their factories in the US.

The expanding global market.
The U.S. labor force has a much higher living standard. American manufacturers can't produce widgets in the USA to sell in an international market where the labor is cheaper.
It's our success in the past that is biting us in the behind today.

Closure? LOL

THe government bails out companies "too big to loose" or "too big to fail". There are some compaines who are in the red year after year and are bailed out year after year.

But we do loose manufacturing to China. $1 slave labor is hard to beat. And as long as the CEO is paid so much, to earn maximum profits, we will NEVER get back manufacturing jobs.

The value of the dollar ensures that we cannot buy American made products and pay the workers also.

The fact that our government doesn't give everyone monthly paychecks to compensate their low wages like they do in communist countries.
If our government did, then everyone could be paid 50 cents a day, and our manufacturers would actually gain some competitiveness. but that would be socialism, so we'll go on supporting a communist economy.
