Two days ago my HCG level was 20.000 and today it had only gone up to 25.500. I'm 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant.
Does this mean a miscarriage or is there any hope at all?
I know it's an inter-uterine pregnancy as my doctor did a scan at 5 weeks (Lost my right tube to an ectopic pregnancy 4 months ago and had a miscarriage 2 months ago).
I have an appointment for another scan in a couple of days but I'm driving myself crazy. Please let me know what you think.

I just wanted to thank all of you for being so supportive. I just got back from having a scan AND they found the heart beat. I'm thrilled. They still want to check up on my in two weeks to make sure it's still growing properly. I'm so happy!

The numbers don't matter as long as they are increasing and not going down. One time I went to the Dr and asked him what my level was he looked at me and said "What does it matter? It's doing what it's supposed to do". That said it all for me. I have also experienced miscarriages. One at 8 weeks and one into my 2nd trimester.
I know it's super scary after the problems you've had to worry about keeping this baby...but all the stress isn't good for you OR the baby. Unless you have an alkaline (or acidic) uterus...or can't maintain progesterone levels...you probably won't miscarry again. (both mine were unrelated...one was an attachment issue...the other was placenta abruption)
Good luck. If you are seriously that concerned...call your Dr again and see what he says. If he's not worried then you shouldn't be either.

Hi
Have gone through this situation a number of times myself and am sorry to hear about your previous losses. Have you had any testing done? Just thought I'd let you know this info I found:
Below an hCG level of 1,200 mIU/ml the hCG usually doubles every 48–72 hours, though a rise of 50–60% is still considered normal. Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum the hCG usually takes 72–96 hours to double, and above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes more than four days to double.
That would make sense if you look at the range:
3 weeks LMP 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
7 - 8 weeks LMP 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
9 - 12 weeks LMP 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
13 - 16 weeks LMP 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks LMP 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
If your levels were to double every 2 days until 9 weeks, you could easily exceed the maximum end of the range.
It seems your levels have slowed a lot, but there is also the possibility of vanishing twin syndrome. I wish you all the best for your scan.

Your levels could be just slow to rise. If the doctor did a scan and found the fetal sac, then that's a good sign. As long as you aren't having any bleeding, you should be okay.
I had an early scan with my second son because of light bleeding and an earlier miscarriage and he was fine despite hormone levels so low that I couldn't register as pregnant on a urine pregnancy test (my doctor called him the ninja baby, laying in wait). My scan at 9 weeks found the heartbeat.
Ask your OB if he can do another scan when you go in, as they can often find the heartbeat as early as 6 weeks if the equipment's good. But as long as you don't have any miscarriage signs just hang in there.
Good luck!

Naw girl... HCG levels are nothing to worry about if they start dropping then you should be concerned... HCG levels are just a way to monitor your hormones. When the baby gets another growth spurt they will rise again...

You can't always judge the viability of your pregnancy on hcg levels. I've known women who had slow rising levels and went on to have healthy pregnancies and babies.
