I don't understand why some peopel wouldn't want more security around our borders? Is there a reason i am not aware of that may make the border wall a bad idea?

I presume you don't mean the apartheid wall in Israel - you want one of your own for the US. Wasn't the US built on immigration?

Anyway 1) It won't work, the border is too long so it is impossible to police unless you have loads of robots or something - people will tunnel under or climb over or maybe even just blow a hole in it. Then you have the sea - are you going to build walls along the US coastline too? What about a huge roof for the US too to keep out planes, choppers and hang-gliders. As you can see in practical terms it's silly. 2)The US is run by rich people who want cheap labor (IE virtually free pretty much slave labor) from Mexico. They don't care if it undermines the lives/ rights etc of poor Americans who need jobs - the Mexicans are cheaper (almost free) and they'll do anything because they have no other real options. So actually the people who own the US would rather have a load of Mexicans doing all the worst jobs because not only does it maximize profits it ensures that normal working Americans live in fear for their jobs and stay firmly under control.

Since all of the terrorists enter through the airports, a border wall won't work very well. It may make you feel better by keeping all those Mexicans out, it would stifle trade and capitalism, cost a lot of money, and still let the terrorists come in through the airports and on boats.

If the wall is a good idea, it is not because of security and keeping us safe.

It is a waste of money. What good is a wall going to do if there's nobody there to watch it, and if there are effective patrols and surveillance on the border, there is no need for a wall.

Why do you think it is a good idea??? Is this not shades of the USSR? They put up walls to keep the people in, not out, but the result is the same. This country was founded by immigrants, why are we so ready to build a wall to keep them out?

What if the native Americans would have put a wall to keep the white settlers out? I'm sure they were a big threat to their security!

Rank xenophobia and isolationism on the part of the country that is (or used to be) admired as the most transparent in the world - ya think THAT might have something to do with it?
