My first Christmas with my hubbys family when we were dating, I did a gift basket of fruits and nuts. I couldn't figure out what to get or do.

My boyfriend is in the military overseas and I live in our home town. So for christmas I wasn't invited to their house yet but I want to get them something nice. This is our first year dating and I really don't know his parents well, although I think things are going great. I really wanted to do a gift certificate for dinner for them, but I kinda feel like thats not good enough. I don't know if you've ever heard of Harry and David, but I think I'm going to get them something nice from there and have it delivered to their house. I've been to the harry and David stores, and EVERYTHING is super nice. It's like gourmet food (popcorn, chocolate, fruit, baked goods) thats extremely delicious. I dated this guy for 3 years and his parents weren't to fond of me but I tried, the first year I made a really nice Christmas quilt for them, that they didnt appreciate at all, and following years after that i just stuck with gift cards because I stopped trying. Anyway, Good luck!

How about a gift card to a restaurant, and tuck the gift card into a nice poinsettia plant (you know with a plastic stick where florists put a little card). Then it's something they can use, and something festive for Christmas.

Why don't you and your boyfriend go shopping together because he would know more than you what to get them. This way you can put the gift from both of you.

I think that is a great idea - My mother in law gives us gift cards to restaurants all the time and we love it!

i would go for a resturant gift card, and movie tickets or a theater gift card. like an evening out kinda thing - that'd be cute. you could put them in a lil basket with some candy - or in a lil box. anyone likes stuff like that,so i don't think its cheesy. you could go for like a his and hers robes,or pjs - something like that. depends on the people i guess...

no, i was gonna say a dinner gift card. it's a safe present, and you know they will use it if you get it to a restaurant they like.
