And I mean all those people here in the Philosophy section. Those who turn up to answer this questions are my friends and are on the same wavelength with me. But those who don't respond and cannot answer this question are afraid. And I remember their names who normally responded to questions on the philosophy of life
as I did with them before.

NO MUDSLINGING PLEASE!

The traditional answer from the Greek etymology is "Love of wisdom", from 'philo' (love) and 'sophia' (wisdom).

This is far from an accurate definition of much of the academic discipline that goes by the name of 'philosophy' today. That activity is concerned primarily with conceptual analysis and presuppositions of our beliefs.

In any case, the old and new tend to construe philosophy as a human activity (as opposed to a body of doctrine). Still, in my humble view, doctrine is important for those who engage in philosophical activity, in the same way that a tested and true training regimen is important for those who engage in physical activity.

But when that activity is occupied less with 'scientific' claims and more with concerns about our human nature and our spiritual purposes, I think, it recovers some of the meaning of the traditional definition. Canadian philosopher and poet Jan Zwicky considers some of these matters, and proposed a definition of philosophy to account for how it could be best understood today: "Thinking in love with clarity".

I don't understand the details and the question is in terrible grammar. Do you mean: Who are those, worth their salt, that can define Philosophy? If this is an inside question that your contacts understand, but leaves the rest of us in the dark, I would like you to restate it so that it includes all of us. I think all human beings are "worth their salt". Philosophy has always been a part of education that is most concerned with wisdom or what it means to live a worthy and accurate life.

Philosophy is the search for truth. In any of the concepts or subjects under discussion.

This leads to descriptions and definitions.

Like that.

Like philosophy, you left your question open-ended.

Do you wish for someone to post a textbook/Internet definition? Or do you want someone to post their particual view of the world around them based on their norms/mores/ideals?

How will you pick the so called _correct_ answer? Do you have a ruberic to go by, or are you basing your choice on your own interpretation of the definition of philosophy - an interpretaiton that by itself is warped from others?!

Technically "philosophy" is Latin for "love of knowledge." Philosophy is the study of the understanding of human existence. Who we are, what we are in the world, what the world means to us and what we mean to the world.

Let me see what Wikipedia says:
"Philosophy is the discipline concerned with questions of how one should live (ethics); what sorts of things exist and what are their essential natures (metaphysics); what counts as genuine knowledge (epistemology); and what are the correct principles of reasoning (logic).[1][2] The word itself is of Greek origin: φιλοσοφία (philosophía), a compound of φίλος (phílos: friend, or lover) and σοφία (sophía: wisdom).[3][4]"

I have done enough studying of the subject that I'll accept that. Personally I was thinking it represents 5 things; how the universe in general relates to us and how we relate to the universe; how we relate to ourselves; how other people interacts with us and how we interact with other people. But I think I'll take Wikipedia's definition as better than the one I was thinking.
