I don't mind adding black bars or something like that to my screen. I just really want a widescreen resolution, but I don't want to buy another screen.

Why?

All you will do is reduce your vertical resolution, you will not add any information, just take some away.

If you have widescreen media, then there are plenty of players that will maximize the width without altering the aspect ratio of the image - putting black or gray bars above and below the image if the window is over sized.

Why make parts of your screen unusable for non-widescreen use, like web browsers and word processing etc?
