Before this guy that is terrorizing me said he would kill me if I stopped talking to him. Now, he said "I could never kill you because I love you." and he went on to say he would cut himself if I stop talking to him. I want to get rid of this creep!!! What do I do? Do I have grounds for a restraining order? If I showed the judge the print outs of these conversations on Instant Messenger could I get a restraining order?

Get a gun. Learn to use it well, then give him a knife. Hopefully he finishes up the job himself, but if he comes after you with it, you can then shoot him.

This person is abusive and you need to get away from him quickly. Don't allow him to make you feel guilty and don't allow him to threaten you. You could contact a lawyer, show the lawyer the IM's and emails and see if you can get a restraining order. If the material is sufficiently threatening, that's a strong possibility.

If not, keep them anyway. Then send this man a letter stating in no uncertain terms that you want no further contact with him in person, by phone, email or IM. If you have any further contact from him, you will press charges of harrassment. Make sure you send the letter by snail mail with return receipt and have it signed for. Keep a copy of the letter at home and when the returned receipt comes with his signature on it, put that with the letter.

If he contacts you in any way after that, make a note of it on the calendar then go to the police, take your evidence and your copy of the letter and the signed receipt and press charges.

Abusers have a very hard time keeping at it if the other person stands up for themselves and doesn't back down. As Dr Phil puts it, you teach others how to treat you and if you back down, you teach this man that's it's ok to run rough shod over you and that he never has to respect you.

Be warned, if you do stand up to him and demand he leave you alone, he may do something harmful to himself (or try to to you). Do NOT allow him to make you feel guilty. You are NOT responsible for how he feels or for his happiness. Only he is. If he tries to come back at you, call the police and really make your boundaries clear.

You absolutely have grounds for an order of protection. Make sure you get an order of protection and not a restraining order. Take all proof of threat and make a case that you are in fear of your life. Good luck!

If you are truly afraid, seek legal protection. But first contact someone in his family and let them know that he is mentioning hurting himself. Suicide is nothing to play with. Look at worst case scenarios. If you tell someone and he gets mad at you, he violates a court order and is arrested. If you don't tell someone and he does kill himself, how will that make you feel?

1, tell lots of people about him and whats going on
2, report it to the police, in smaller cities they may go talk to him other than that they will tell you to get a restraning order against him.
3, depending on your age, call his parents and tell them what he is saying and doing.
4. cut all ties with him, dont email , talk call him at all, if he calls you hang up on him. Dont talk to him, not even to say something mean , just never say a word to him, he'll go away.
5. once you have a restraning order , if he comes near you report him, if he comes after you, KILL HIM, he wanted to die anyways and your in the clear because you in fear for your life.

It's a slam dunk for a restraining order...you got his name and address?

Tell the jerk to cut away, and you won't be held hostage by such a threat.

He is trying to control you. If you feel threatened, file for the order.

I would certainly try. Don't believe that he wouldn't hurt you. He sounds mentally unstable and makes him capable of anything...If you know anyone in his family try to warn them of his strange behavior.

God Bless and Be Safe!!!
