I'm not sure you are asking for an intermittent no crank or an intermittent no start as in cranks but will not start? You have to be specific as it's hard enough to help with no hands on. I will assume a no start. First let me say that any checks done on an intermittent problem only narrow them down when the fault is active, so in your case when the car won't start. A lot of problems can be solved by looking anyways. The first thing to do is to check for codes and valid motor sensor data. You will need a scanner to do this. Next, check for spark outputs at all of the spark plug ends. All need to be strong and consistent. If you have no spark at all, you will need to get into diagnosis of the DIS ignition system and that's way too complicated for here. Here's where you can check both ends of the wires and the wires themselves for damage, corrosion or carbon tracking. If you find any of this stuff, replace everything that is corrodded as sanding will not get rid of everything. Check the plugs for these problems too. Then check for fuel pressure at the valve located on the fuel rail close to the oil cap. You need around 55 psi. When the car acts up you have to be ready to perform these checks.

What you’re experiencing is named Dieseling. this occurs whilst there is sufficient warmth interior the motor to maintain burning the gasoline after the engine has been close down. a solid chum of mine had a sixty two ford that could desire to diesel for merely approximately and hour. Your quickly idle situation is probably do to the Choke being out of adjustment. The dieseling may be do to an over progressed distributor. you are able to desire to look at having the carb rebuilt. this is probably this is under no circumstances been accomplished till now. Take it to a save that still is familiar with a thank you to do it. Or discover out in the event that they could merely positioned a clean one on. whilst they try this they could alter the choke properly and alter the idle. whilst they're in there adjusting the idle have them double verify the timing. interior the mean time till you have it fixed. right this is a thank you to end the engine from dieseling without popping the hood. once you get examine to coach off the motor turn the foremost off whilst on the comparable time stomping on the vehicle pedal. What this could do is flood the chamber so it may no longer burn the gasoline. do no longer difficulty the motor will hearth precise back up once you bypass to start it lower back. you merely putting in greater gasoline then there is air to burn it.

you most-likely have a charging system problem the battery can stabilize over night allowing it to start but after you drive it the alternator has not kept up with the demands of the electrical system so it doesn't start when it is hot I suggest you have your mechanic test the system so you get it repaired correctly before you get stuck somewhere and have to have it towed.good luck
