Why would any man willingly take on the nickname "A-Rod"?
It sounds like a sex toy for gay men...

He is Mr. Get them to October, perform better than most of his team but take all the flack for not hitting a bases empty grand slam everytime he comes to the plate, check his playoff stats versus Reggie's all time playoff stats then see what you have. People need to stop listening to McCarver for their stats and start reseasrching for themselves before piling on a guy that has better than average postseason stats.
Where were Jeter, Posada and the rest of the great Yankees this postaseason, and last postseason....

Has anyone looked up Alex Robriguez's post season record? Which of you professors have looked at it and compared it to other super stars? Anyone? He's got a .258 BA with 7 HRs in 25 games. Below par, yes, but far from bad. Which of you Johnny Einsteins thinks that if he played in 50 games his stats would not improve?
Oh, yeah, and which of you Pope Pius the Thirds would turn down a raise? How many would take a promotion and insist on a pay cut because you wanted your co-workers to like you?
What you actually KNOW about A-Rod and baseball could fill a sentence. A poorly written one.

A-rod hasn't played in a World Series. If you take away Reggie's world series stats and just compare LCS games, A-rods stats are much better. Reggie has a career batting average in LCS games of only .227. This includes .143 in the '73 LCS, .167 in the '74 LCS, .125 in the '77 LCS, .000 in the '81 LCS, .111 in the '82 LCS, and .192 in the '86 LCS. Obviously Reggie played great in the World Series, lets let A-rod make it to the World Series before we start criizing his post season performances.

Gene - he actually has a .279 post season average - with 7 HR and 17 RBI in 39 games.
Geniuses on here think that's terrible for some reason.
To answer this question - it's in insult to A-Rod to be put in the same sentence as Reggie Jackson. Nobody in their right mind would rather have Jackson than Rodriguez. That's insane.

He had a better October than did Derek Jeter or Jorge Posada, but I don't hear anyone criticizing either of them. Further, there's no way the Yankees would have even sniffed October without Alex carrying them this season.
He didn't do well these past few seasons, but he had outstanding postseasons in 2000 and 2004. However, as with most things, fans tend to have selective memories and will see things as they wish to see them.

No, I know you are suggesting that A-Rod is not clutch but he is not bad in October. He is just decent in October.
