Is anyone as fed up with politicians (I name John McCain first and foremost) labeling anti-war supporters "anti-American" and/or "un-patriotic" as I am?

So I'm anti-American if I go with my gut feeling that this war is wrong? That we're not really fighting for freedom or trying to spread democracy? That I don't believe all of the baloney that comes out of DC?

Am anti-American if I go and read/study about the country that I live in and find that it too has sponsored terrorism...?

"Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may." - Mark Twain

No - because no politicians are calling people anti American or un-patriotic just because they don't support the war. I've never heard John McCain or Bush or any high profile politician say that. If you are going to throw out wild accusations like that you should link to something where they said that. I'm sure you won't because they haven't.

Most people that call others un- American or unpatriotic are normal Americans like me. You sound very anti-American. All governments do things that are wrong, including ours. What makes you anti-American is that you see the American Government as worse than others.

If you thought it was a bad idea to go into Iraq that is one thing but now that we are there, to not support our troops is horrible. There is no question that no matter what mistakes we have made we are still more honorable and decent than the terrorists our troops are fighting in Iraq.

Any american that calls another american an anti-american just for their views on war is the real anti-american.

We have the right to have our own opinion without being condemned for it.

Thoughout the whole war pro-war people were saying things like. If you don't like it then get out. Well, no it's my right to disagree and no one has the right to say otherwise. That's what freedom of speech protects. It does not protect what you don't want to hear.

It's good for people to have their own opinion, but I never heard any pro-peace supporters telling pro-war people to get out of the country.

Yes of course, me too.

If they want to label you anti-United Statesian I would have no problem with that. But why is what the US do or fail to do an American issue? that makes no sense. What Germany does is Germany's problem not a European issue. The US is not America Germany is not Europe.

Not nearly as tired as I am of people complaining that they've been called un-American by someone. I think sometimes it makes them feel special if they feel persecuted, even though in reality it's what a handful of people saying things like this?? Get over it.
