I'm moving to Los Angeles to start a career in film. I know most actors have agents and managers and stuff like that. But I want to know how do I start out even finding these types of representation?

Honestly you don't sound ready. You should have started before you move here. You need proper training and to build a resume before you get here. Starting locally (wherever you are now) may give you a bit of an edge because the market here is so big it's that much harder to get into. Building a resume here will be that much harder. Do you have on going training under your belt right now? Do you have a number of theatre credits, student & indie film roles, some local commercials, etc. on your resume? If you had all that you would know how to find legitimate representation so that you don't get taken advantage of.

Los Angeles is definitely the place to be, when you're ready. Do you know if you're ready? It's really hard and expensive here.

One great all-inclusive resource is: http://workingactors.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi You still need to check out the businesses before you use them since I've seen such places as Barbizon (do NOT use them) listed here but all in all it's still a great resource.

You can find classes under training, under marketing you'll find photographers as well as reproduction places, etc. You can even find lawyers, help with housing, etc. Yes there are agents and managers listed, but I'd still go with the SAG.org list or RossReports.com. The agents on this list are not necessarily regulated by the state or SAG franchised. Any agent that asks for up front fees, charges more than 10% commission for a SAG contract, tries to say you need photos from a specific photog, or classes from a specific place then it's a big fat scam and you need to walk away.

good luck,
Marianne

You can't just decide to start a career in film, it is much more complex than that. I did IMTA (international model & talent association) a while ago, and there i got 21 callbacks and signed with a manager and agent. IMTA is a program where you go to either New York or Los Angeles and perform for agents & managers. If they think you should start building a career, then hopefully they will sign with you.
You should also look into community work so you can begin to build a resume. Good Luck!

I know this is probably not what you want to hear but going off to LA to start your career is not a good idea. Getting experience elsewhere before approaching cities like LA and New York is a better idea. It gives you something to put on your resume. There are many talented people in LA (I'm not saying you have any less talent), who have more experience and are more likely to be chosen for roles.

But to try to find representation is hard. First they want to see that you know how hard it is and they need to say a willingness in you to try and the ability to tough it out because people usually only get in 1 out every 20 auditions. They also want to see that you are a growing actor, meaning that you have taken classes in the past couple of months to increase your range of skills. And of course they need to see that you have enough talent to get a job. They mayeven ask for you to do a monologue for them when you see them.

Tom Cruise will likely be of support to you on that. Yesterday, on right here, used to be a woman asking a query as HOW to QUIT the scientological cult. auditing price her 10 000 greenbacks and he or she is wholly worry ridden from different follower. keep away, if i perhaps of support.
