Yes because all the minimum wage does is

1) Eliminate the job who's value is less then the wage
2) Increase cost to business
3) since all cost are passed to the consumer it causes a price increase
4) Increases unemployment due to increased cost and more people actively seeking a job.
5) It hampers the free market
6) is unconstitutional.

There is no longer a large American middle class, and this is so largely because unions which protected workers by guaranteeing them a living wage are gone, after all the outsourcing of the last 27 years. To take away the protection afforded by minimum wage laws would further "Third World-ize" the United States. Thus, the minimum wage is essential.

Why would you ask such a question?

The biggest problem with the minimum wage is that it makes people with little or no skills UNEMPLOYABLE. If the min. wage is set at $7.00 per hour, but a person has 'skills' that only make them worth $6.00 an hour, they will not be able to get work. No one will hire them.

One of the most important benefits of a person's first, entry-level job, is that by getting into the work place they develop important work skills that enable them to make more money and get better jobs over time. Without that first, entry-level, low-paying job, many people become permanently 'LOCKED OUT' of the job market. That is simply CRUEL!

Yes, but it is unlikely to happen.

The minimum wage is a rail to Democratic Party in that they get large donations from unions. A goodly number of unions have their wages set as a function of the minimum wage --- so when Congress appeals to people that poor people need a quarter or a dollar more --- the public (thanks to the wonderful free, fair, investigative media) never learns of the connection of this dollar increase is an immediate raise/cost to builders of building, homes, roads, etc --- .
