Obviously, you can look at this issue from two side: 1) He is being treated unfairly (in terms of media criticism) because his phone conversation with his son was a private family matter; or 2) He is being treated fairly (again, in terms of criticism) because his language was so offensive. What are your thoughts?

What needs to happen is this;

If Dog committed a crime by using the 'N' word (which happens not be ILLEGAL) because it offends 'blacks' then by george, whatever happens to him, (his show pulled for starters) NEEDS to happen to every 'black' person who has used the 'N' word on T.V. or in music as well. Let's see, that would include: Chris rock, Eddie Murphy, all these rappers, Richard Pryor, and the list would go on and on.

That is the FAIR AND UNBIASED solution. If blacks are offended by that word it shouldn't matter who says it..

I do think Dog is being treated unfairly. He was speaking in the privacy of his own home in a private conversation. Although he used derogatory language, it doesn't make him a racist or a criminal. His privacy was invaded and he was betrayed. How many of us have made stupid off color comments about overweight or skinny people, or people of different races or backgrounds? But that doesn't make us racist people or necessarily bigots against people who are of average weight. How is that Halle Berry is so easily forgiven for her comment about Jewish noses, which she stated publicly? Dog's statement was private. Let me state, I don't think either Halle or Dog are racist, yet they made off color comments. We've got to stop this double standard, like the posts above me stated "stop the rappers and quit glorifying them for using the "n" word". If it's not acceptable for Dog and he's being punished, then it shouldn't be acceptable for ALL, including Halle and black entertainers as well. Good luck. 2D

while I don't agree with the language he used, if the role was reversed and it was a black guy talking down about whites, I don't think it would have even gotten blinked at. I think he has the right to freedom of speech, this phone conversation was t obe private -
If his show was being pulled out of a sense of true morality that would be one thing but it is being pulled so that the network does not have to deal with the permanantly martyred, permanantly have to make an issue out of these things, portion of the black community- I am not talking about the entire black community but a small protion of them that make a big ruckus over little things that most people dont even blink an eye at.
I have heard worse than the 'N' word used on television and heard and seen worse degradations of women, certain religions and certain people- all of it is unacceptable but it continues - but this man's private conversation blown all out of proportion lke this is a sad statement of the state of America today.

I do like canines and bringing that criminal in grew to become right into a stable factor.yet,he did break the regulation by potential of not appearing for courtroom.inspite of each little thing,his job is to hold others wherein have completed the comparable factor.this is a splash hypocritical to arrest others and then turn around and do the comparable factor himself.i'm hoping all of it seems ok however.

He's an idiot, that's all there is to it- just like many, many other reality television stars, including Flavor Flav, the housewives of orange county, and all of the osbournes, to name a few. Just clear your minds and think about for one short second the kind of person we're talking about here- these were very degrading remarks made by an uneducated ex-con murderer turned born again christian who sees it as his responsibility to bring other criminals to justice and, in the process, was fortunate enough to market his deplorable image and turn it into a fairly successful reality television program, making loads of money off the misery of others- and here everyone is, completely mesmerized by his television presence, as if he were some noble diplomat!!! I don't care if A&E puts him on again or not- I have a choice, and I choose not to watch his show. We shouldn't be ashamed and disgusted because he's white or black and made these remarks- we should all be disgusted as human beings instead. Fair or not, I've never watched his show, and I have no intentions of watching it when they re-instate him.

Any kind of racial slurs should not be tolerated. However if we are going to get onto Dog the bounty hunter about the words he used then we need to get onto just about every single rapper on the radio.

It's not ok for anyone to use those words period, but I feel as though that rule only applies to people who are white. I've been to comedy shows after comedy shows were a black speaker uses the N word repeatively... which offends me and that's ok. for him to it.. However, if it were a white man he'd be stoned.

I'm tired of racism period inside and outside of race!

J-Mac-It is a good arguement... Racism and words in that sense are ALWAYS WRONG! What if a young white child heard two black men call the other the N word and then believed it was ok for him to say it! If you don't want to be called the N word then set an example for everyone around you and don't use it!!! Come on give me a break man!

Dog is getting a raw deal! It was a private conversation - and it should have stayed that way. It was not intended for public consumption. Personally, I am sick and tired of Reverend Al et al jumping all over every little incident like this.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DUANE, TIM, LELAND AND THE WHOLE FAMILY. It is about time the Mexico thing is over. It never should of happened in the first place. Mrs. Beth Chapman ~ congratulations to you for staying so strong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I first heard the short version and just now got to hear the long version of this phone conversation between Tucker and Mr. Chapman. I hear a Father disciplining a son (Tucker Chapman) whose girlfriend (Monique Shinnery) was making threats and stirring up problems between the family members prior to this tape recording.
It is extremely obvious Mr. Chapman was correct in his assessment of the whole situation concerning his son Tucker and his girlfriend Monique. While Mr. Chapman is talking to his son ~ the very son ~ who is secretly recording this conversation is lying to his Dad on this tape about his girlfriend Monique's intentions BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT JUST HIS GIRLFRIENDS INTENTIONS ~ OBVIOUSLY!!!
Shame on A&E and Black leaders for getting involved and promoting a rebellious son.
What I don't get is how Tucker is swearing that Monique wouldn't do something like this and accusing everyone involved of lying about Monique trying to do this BUT HE IS SITTING THERE DOING EXACTLY WHAT HIS FATHER AND EVERYONE ELSE felt Monique was trying to do.
My goodness give some credibility to Mr. Chapman for calling a spade a spade.
He obviously should of cut his son out a lot sooner but as most fathers wanted to believe in his children. He just thought it was LOVE that was causing his son to not see clearly when in truth Tucker and Monique are both being troublemakers.
Tucker Chapman and Monique Shinnery need to apologize publicly for getting paid to release a private conversation and ALL the things they did prior to this conversation that was causing problems within this family.
As far as this girlfriend goes (since it is obvious she don't like her boyfriends family) she should do like all the other girlfriends who don't like their in-laws or in her case her boyfriends family ~STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
No, what he said was clearly racist and because he tries to be a role model he should called be on it. He can say whatever he wants but why should someone with racist views have his own show and also be in a position of power ! He actually arrests people, what if that was a police officer. He would be thrown off the force !
And black people saying the N word is not the same as a white person sayin it. The arguement is totally invalid. If a gay person calls another gay person a fag it's known that it's not harmful but if a straight person says it you have to question it, don't you?
Thought of the Moment:
If you came and you found a strange man... teaching your kids to punch each other, or trying to sell them all kinds of products, you'd kick him right out of the house, but here you are; you come in and the TV is on, and you don't think twice about it. -Jerome Singer, psychology professor
