Some of their later stuff is cool too( "New Improved" is really good in my opinion, but obviously a very different style), but the first two have to be the best for me...

Buffster...I first heard "Vincebus Eruptum" in1990(I was 16), but I really wish I'd been there at the time."Summertime Blues" was a hit for them, wasn't it? It must have been mindblowing at the time..OK Hendrix had released "Are You Experienced" beforehand, but as far as I know it took a while for him to "catch on" in the States. Did you guys hear Blue Cheer first? The trippy ascending riff in the middle is something I can imagine really blew people away. Please elaborate...

Have to give it to Vincebus Eruptum just for the initial shock of all that distortion and gain to my younger ears when it first came out; wow. Summertime Blues was one of the first handfull of heavy rock tunes that I had ingested as a lad; truly an air guitar delight! (That was before the term had been coined). Great stuff to grow up on.

*Edit* Yep. Summertime Blues was on the airwaves heavy. Hard to remember, but I DO think that I heard it before Jimi. It was a brash slap up side the head compared to Jan & Dean, but worth it.

Wow
Vincebus Eruptum. I'm amazed to see a Blue Cheer question. And I can't wait to see Chunga's answer.

Vincebus Eruptum, I loved "Summertime Blues" when it first came out. Parchment Farm also great with its distorted riffs. They were the "punk rockers" of that time period!
