I would like to wire in a chime to my existing motion sensing flood light. The idea is for the chime to sound when the motion sensor is activated. Any clues on what product to use or creative ideas are welcome and appreciated?

You need an ordinary domestic door chime (the type that runs off a mains transformer). You will need access to the internal workings of the floodlight, as you will need to connect the high voltage side of the transformer across the lamp terminals. Connect the output of the transformer to the chime and there you have it, although the chime will hold on until the light goes off again. This latter may or may not be a problem depending on the design of chime.

Just installed a motion detector purchased at my local home store that does this wirelessly. The chime plugs into any existing outlet in your home and even has an outlet so that any appliance (e.g. lamp) plugged into it, will also come on when the motion detector is triggered. Price was about $45, for comparison to whatever the chime will cost you.
