The amount of raw data may be doubling every 5-7 years, or whatever, but the amount of USEFUL information? that's a different question. It can take many years for useful applications of new technologies to be put into practice. However, there is no doubt that overall we are moving ahead at a rapid rate.

Researchers have estimated that total human knowledge in the area of biology/biomedicine is DOUBLING every 3 to 5 years. So, since 9/11, all of mankind's knowledge in this area has more than doubled!
