I teach in a very humid environment and I'm having difficulty getting the kids' name tags to stick to their desks with contact paper. I've also tried packing tape and that doesn't work either. I've tried cleaning the surfacewith Windex, wiping dry and then sticking on the contact paper, but that doesn't work. What is the best way to prepare the surface so that the contact paper will stick?

Try a TSP cleaner (like Spick-and-Span). It will get off the grease you can't see on the surface and let the labels stick better.

You could also ask in a stationary place like Staples whether they have a high-tack labels for difficult applications.

Use spray adhesive. Follow the directions on the can. Most of them advise spraying only one of the surfaces if you wish to remove it later and both surfaces for permanent application. A light coat should work.

Have you tried spray adhesive? That may do the trick although removing the stickers may be a process at the end of the school year... Or colored duct tape.. That might work as well...

if you can't get their name tags to stick to the tables, why don't you try creating a seating chart and then memorize it! at least that way the kids will think you're taking an interest in them personally!
