They weren't good at all--I was a lonely and not a happy child. My parents favored my brother, and I had the misfortune of being an ugly little girl that my classmates picked on (I look back on my school class photos and I realize that I WASN'T an ugly little girl--and some of my classmates were the ones who were hurtin'!)

My happiest memories were my army days. I also had the fortune of going to school in Korea for one semester at a Christian University and living with a Korean host family, and spending a lot of time hiking up the mountains to see the Buddist temples around the country--Korea is such a beautiful place and some of my happiest times were spent there.

Golly. I think most people, when they finally grow up... have some children of their own and some experience under their belt realize that there was good and bad. The difference? I choose to remember the good over the bad and remember to remind myself and my own children of the things I know about their childhoods that helped to form the personalities they acquired. We all have that choice. Simple as that. Another little hint here: positive reinforced memories tend to make for a lot better spiritual, emotional, mental and physical health...... proven fact from a lot of reading and studying this over my 51 yrs of life.

I look back on my childhood with great fondness. I remember the love of both my Father and Mother and feel eternally grateful for the way they brought my sister and I up during very difficult times. I have a fond memory of my Dad returning from operational service with the RAF in early 1946 and I look upon, with great pride, his contribution to the war effort, both against Germany and Japan. With hindsight I only wish I had shown my appreciation whilst they were alive.

It is all how you want to view them. Sure, I was taken from the care of my real mother for good at 3 months old. Yes, I have never met my father. Yep, had the angry step father. Did I see the food stamp coupons?...indeed. Was I mistreated in school, mhmm.

But I did have a meal to eat, a loving adopted mother and I was loved. That is how I want to view childhood.

I've got both good and bad memories. Generally, memories with my parents and family are good, but there are bad things that have happened. It doesn't really matter though, it's what you get from the memories that's important. I wouldn't exchange any of my memories, even the bad ones, because they've strengthened me and made me who I am.

ALL OF MY MEMORIES of growing up are GOOD. I was fortunate to have great parents. We were not wealthy but had enough money to do what we wanted and have the things we needed. My Dad was quiet but always there for us and very generous. My Mom was the discipline and she was the rock. Everyone loved her. We were raised to be independent and we are all self employed and enjoy life.

Most of my childhood memories are very good. My first few years as a teenager were a bit of a struggle though.

Both. You have to take the bad with the good. I have a lot of bad memories but there were good times.

I have bad memories, but the good ones out weight the bad.

I had some real bad memories about school.. my teacher was a real monster.. She had her effect on me, I ended up with vitiligo (Skin disorder, makes your skin go white.. Like white spots all over, freckles but the opposite =p ) I was in 4th grade.. And I spent my next three years travelling from one country to another and swallowing pills, applying creams and all that kinda junk to fix it, I even wore dark sun glasses, gloves, cap and long sleeves to protect myself from going completely blind, and kids picked on me cuz of my "costume".. Then I got sick of the treatment and decided that if people can't accept the way my spotted hands look like they can go commit suicide if they want cuz frankly I don't care anymore!
