The green dot it the target area. If you can crash your helmet square into the dot, then you can knock the Quarterback out of the game.

No really! It is for the back judge to easily identify the quarterback in motion. Remember, the back judge is watching for dozens of infractions and tracking movement in fractions of a second.

It has absolutely no connection to transmitters.

its an expiriment by the nfl to see how many people will ask what the green dots on QBS helmets are

NFL changed the rules this year.

You are only allowed one player on the field at the same time that has the transmitter in the helmet. In the past you could have tow people with the transmitter on the field at the same time.

The green dot lets the Back Judge see all the players with a quick glance to make sure there is just one.

i got suspended for my last answer, but it was the most creative!! hope you read it. it compared the green dots to some people's red dots and 7-11 stores and it got me into trouble...that's why I am in cognito now, shhh!

It marks the helmets with the radio receiver in them for QBs. It is an easy way to keep track of which helmets have this feature.

The green dot marks which helmet has a transmitter in it and is in communication with the head coach and sideline.
