Living in rural ontario, our well might be dry? Plumber coming today, hope it's just the pump. Any advice?

If it turns out to be that the well is indeed dry then the best option will probably be to dig it deeper. Depending on how much deeper they go it may not be too expensive since the basic well is already in place. Around here it will run about $10/ft. to go down deeper. There is a minimum charge of $200.
Good luck!

not sure of your current situation but you could get a clue by checking out the water levels in your local streams and ponds. If they are low i would be worried. I'm not an expert but i imagine that would dictate the water level in your well. my grandparents had a well and we could physically look inside to check it out. maybe they have some sort of gauge, like in a gas tank that you could get. don't know, just thinking.

For your sake, I hope it is just a bad pump or something else mechanical. I had to have a new well drilled once, and it was expensive.
