How much would this system be worth (approximately):
It has an 80GB HDD
512MB RAM
Intel Celeron D Processor (2.93GHz)
128Mb Video Card (64MB built in)
5.1 Channel sound card
DVDRW drive
CD Drive
Linux - openSUSE 10.3
And it has a window so you can look inside.

The Celeron processor brings it down quite a bit as well as the ram. is it IDE or SATA hard drive?
i would say about $200 give or take, depending where you are and how you sell it. personally, ebay, craigslist, etc.
Linux vs. Windows doesnt matter, it just depends on what the person whos purchasing it prefers. You'll likely get more if it had windows as SUSE is free. Windows will wrun between $100-$150 to purchase - dont do it now, but thats something people may look at when they consider buying it, so it would cost them that much more

I would say "Not Much" considering it is used and probably a couple of years old at best. We bought my parents a Celeron computer 3 or 4 years ago with similar specs (60 gb HD 256 mb Ram) and Win XP it was about $700.00 new.
The problem with Celeron is it hangs up too often and it is really only good for email, general web surfing, not good for web games. I looked at Circuit City website they have a compaq with 120 gb hd, 1 gb ram and vista for $369.99 so again "not much value" As for the first poster stating a used Keyboard and mouse valued at $40, unless both are higher end items and like new condition most likely value is much lower. I've notice identical items on ebay either sells for inflated prices or very low prices depending on who's looking. (not a very good gauge to value items)

lol no it's not worth $1000
$150 - 200 max
Celeron is the worst processor there is, the HDD is small, the graphic is onbard and it lacks Ram.

$550 is my guess. This is replacement cost, not how much you could sell it for. This means how much it would cost you to build or buy an equivalent system.
For selling price, especially on a used system, I usually let the market decide by going to Ebay and finding an auction on a few similar systems, then see how much they sell for.
Broken down:
CPU $45
Harddrive $50
Motherboard $70
Case and Powersupply: $80
Keyboard and mouse: $40
Sound card: $50
DVD Burner: $50
CD Drive: $20
RAM: $40
Grafix card: $50
Assembly: $50

Considering it's used, probably around $400-$500. Computers are just like cars--as soon as you buy it the resell value of it goes down drastically.
