In all four of my languages?
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. (English)
Joyeux Noël et Bonne année. (French)
Fröhliches Weihnachten und Gutes Neues Jahr. (German)
Natale allegro e un nuovo anno felice. (Italian)
I don't speak these languages, but this is my family's heritage. These are the ways my mother and father taught us how to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. :)
A Merry Christmas to you, too!

When I wish someone "Merry Christmas", I am reminding myself and hopefully others of the Birth of Our Savior, Jesus, the Christ.
Happy New Year is a wish for a healthy and prosperous year to come.
Sorry, I do not know that there is an expression for these two in Cherokee. Oh Si Yo! Essa chew!
