This country elite is stamping on it's people for to long now. But I have hope. There is a book I read about 2 brothers prophets from Serbia. When asked if USA capitalism is going to oppress Americans forever they responded NO because peoples are not working animals only and when abused long enough they will stop it. Churches and big money are playing common folks ignorance like a violin. But I believe in fundamental common sense and survival instincts of most people. Americans will cast their vote and take care of abuse.

Well, geez...looks like YOU have all the answers!
Give yourself ten points!
Look, fact is, "we the people" would be unable to come to a consensus on spending.
In our loosely-defined democracy, it is far more effective to elect someone who can represent our interests.
Of course, the lure of special interest moneys from lobby groups really does put a spin on things.
But the voting booth can send a loud signal that the people don't approve of that.
My only wish is that our votes would be by 'popular' rather that 'electoral college'.
Then and only then would our vote really count.

One of our US Senators told me that we elected him because he had the correct policies and that after that we (his constituents) had no more say. He will vote the way HE thinks best.
I am still shaking my head over that. I was taught that we were the ones to give him the directions.

If we all came together and demanded that the line item veto and that any spending must be its own bill, it would be easy to take control, but too many are zombies when it comes to government, or support crap like giving $5,000 to every baby, or having the government (ie you and I as taxpayers) match their retirement contributions.

The one who is misinformed is you. You are reading too much of the radical right nonsense. Try some radical left for a while and then start thinking somewhere in the middle.
