I agree. Neglectful parents can't be trusted with their children.

I understand why some would say the twins have been through enough, however, that is not a valid reason to keep them in the care of two irresponsible parents.
yes the twins have gone through enough and that is because their parents went out for dinner and booze, leaving their three toddlers alone, parents who do such things are clearly irresponsible and anyone who thinks that what they did was ok are clearly irresponsible parents themselves.
The twins should be monitored closely because if the McCanns (who may i add, have still not admitted what they did was wrong) leave their babies alone on a regular basis, anything could happen to them - chocking in their sleep, falling out of bed and hurting themselves, a fire could break out......and so on.
i do however doubt very much that they would ever leave their children alone again, but nothing would surprise me so it's better to be safe than sorry, the twins deserve better, anyother parent would have them taken away 6 months ago!

No . . . what have the twins done to deserve that? To lose their sister and parents in the course of six months would be too hard on them. Plus, a Social Services worker came to the McCanns' house last month and found the twins were being treated just fine.

Hang on, i thought social services only investigated after a petition was started on the 10 Downing street website, otherwise they probably wouldn't have bothered.
If the parents are languisghing in a Portuguese prison, who will have them then? At the end of the day, children have been taken away from their parents on the say so of a so called expert doctor, so will the McCanns be on the receiving end i wonder?

If you have followed the case, you will know that on their return from Portugal they were investigated by Social Services. No charges were laid against them and the twins were left in their care.
Quite frankly, many truly neglected children would be very happy to live with the McCanns.

lose custody? No, they should not
already shown they are not responsible? No, they have not
Wrong on both counts. To wish this on them (and what else do you do but that in a question like this?) is callous, cruel and irresponsible.

It's not that easy to answer. They already lost one child by making a very bad decision and they will have to live with that for the rest of their lives. The twins lost a sister as well, and taking them away will only hurt the twins. They do need to be monitored by the Child Welfare people for a very long time.

think they need to go on a good parenting course and learn a few simple basic facts of parenthood, the responsibility of what is involved and how to respect and be there for their children...
