Cookies are usually little programs that websites put in your computer on you brower so that they can collect information as to what websites you visit so they can advertise to you accordingly. Most of the time anyway.
You can delete them in two ways. Right click on your brower icon on your desktop and click properties. on the "General" tab there are several options to clear not only the cookies, but your temporary files, and history.
Second is way to click on tool while you have the brower open and go to internet options and go to the general tab and click on the options you want.
I would clear at least the cookies and the temp files as they sometimes collect information from your temp files. You might want to do this on a regular basis as well since this could also help by freeing up bandwidth. Once a week should be fine.
