GPC - you are GREATLY overrating the defensive abilities of Pujols and Cabrera. Pujols is very good at first, at third he was a liability (.938 fielding %), and in the OF? Come on, you think he's a gold glove caliber OF? That's insane.
They moved Cabrera from the OF to 3B because he has no range, not a very accurate arm, and does not read balls well off the bat.

1. A-Rod - Probably the best SS in baseball but also a good 3B. Hits for Avg, power, and has speed.
2. Pujols - Can play 1B, 3B, and OF at a Gold glove level. Numbers speak for themselves offensively, just lacks the speed of A-Rod.
3. Cabrerra - See Pujols description
4. Hanley Ramirez - Just blossoming into the top player in the game.
5. Jose Reyes - Like Ramirez, plenty of upside here.
6. Matt Holliday - Could be as high as 3 on the list. Great all around player.
7. David Wright
8. Vlad Guerrero
9. Curtis Granderson
10. Magglio Ordonez
I left off some noteworthy players who are close to being here but I feel just out of the top ten:
Ortiz, Ramirez, Sizemore, Chipper, Howard, Utley, Upton, Lee, Soriano, Helton...

The player that is the best position player out there right now? Certainly it is not A-Rod. Albert Pujols is an obvious better player - and I would rather have Ichiro Suzuki on my team than A- Rod. Jimmy Rollins and Jose Reyes are two other players that are seriously underrated by most people. Actually, for everything, power speed, defense, average, one would have to pick either Rollins (my choice) or Reyes.

A-Rod isn't the best, simply put. The only thing he's good at is putting on a show. He shouldn't be in the MLB, he should be in the circus. David Ortiz & Manny Ramirez are #'s 1 & 2, because they do what needs to be done when it counts most.

A Rod isn't the best. He may be the best payed, but there are so many great players out there who not only have talent, but play for the team. A Rod has amazing regular season stats, but he's got nothing in the post season. Talk about the million dollar strike out. Jeter is great (even though I'm a sox fan). There are a lot of rookies who have a shot at becoming #1 or whatever. Take the Red Sox's Pedroia for example.

Pujols Hands Down. The other "top" players are Ortiz, Jeter, Vlad Guerrero, and Ryan Howard.

Albert Pujols or Prince Fielder, both young men have shown they can hit for power and can run the bases well.
