No there isn't. Lets look at the last 10 yrs. Major media outlets allow the right wing bias bashing and failed attempt to oust President Clinton from office. 2000 elections, Bush declared winner and all attempts to challenge it in the media are debunked by conservatives. Then Sep. 11 till the middle of 2003; most major media outlets do not air any of the Bush Administration's failures and are allowed to blatantly attack Democrats. 2004, Swift Boat ads attack John Kerry, obviously false are allowed to be accepted as truth by media outlets while any attempts to look in Bush's false military record are met with resistance and the unfortunate resigning of Dan Rather from CBS news. It has only been within the last 2-2 1/2 yrs that major media outlets have moved back towards the center, but as long as you have FOX news and News Central, two obviously right wing biased networks still broadcasting their hate of the left. Neocons will still complain of a "Liberal" media.

While some columnists on op ed pages are liberal/progressive, they are outnumbered by conservatives.
Editorial pages may take liberal stands on social issues such as a woman's right to chose and acknowledging scientific facts about global warming, but on Corporate-managed "Free Trade" and the invsasion of Iraq they were unanimous in supporting the desires of Big Business and the Bush administration.
edit: I'm still laughing at the fool who said Fox News doesn't have a bias...at least in the former Soviet Union the people knew Pravda was a propaganda station, here people actually believe Fox News is not a Republican Propaganda outlet. LOL

Of course there is. Everyone, including journalists, see the world through the lens of their own ideology. There doesn't have to be a conspiracy, or even a conscious effort by journalists for the news to have a liberal slant. All that is necessary is for the average journalist to be more liberal than the average American. A number of opinion polls show that is clearly the case.
There are news outlets, FOX for example, which have, in my opinion, a conservative slant to their coverage. The media is not simply one homogeneous group.
If you are really interested, check-out the book Bias by Bernard Goldberg. He is a former CBS news reporter who was compelled to write a critical op ed piece for the Wall Street Journal when CBS News broadcast a highly biased report attacking Steven Forbes. As a result of this piece his stories were blacklisted by the network and he was forced to resign. The first chapter of this book is kind of a rant but beyond that, when you get into the substance of the book there is some interesting information.

You need to start with redefining Liberal.
As it is the dictionary definition of Liberal does not match the touted NeoCon definition.
I'm thinking Liberal should mean, A person or ideal that resists subservience and or the gentrification of Aristocracy.
That would make Liberal media. Any public voice or image that promotes the self aggrandizing of the lower class citizens ie Equality

I take each and each piece of education with a grain of salt. If I hear to hurry or somebody then I do extra beneficial learn. He makes use of sound bites that are very deceptive which i do unlike, yet he tells the actuality as nicely. it extremely is not correct who the source is, you will desire to consistently attempt to back it up. I watch each and all the media clowns, and in keeping with extra beneficial learn i detect all of them to be packed with it. it extremely is a lot extra beneficial answer than "You mean liberals can examine"? it extremely is all you so called liberals would desire to assert from now on. only baseless advert homs and BS. i wouldn't in any respect connect your pathetic ranks.

Does a bear $hit in the woods?
Get real. Of course there is a media bias. Your "think tank" study that was "flawed" was accurate. It is glaringly obvious. I will give a simple example of bias. Go back to the 2000 election. After all of the smoke had cleared, there was an independent recount of the votes. By independent, I mean that there were as many radical democrats as radical republicans, plus media involved. My brother was one of those radical democrats, so he was disappointed when he told me the results. In all scenarios, Bush still won and in only one scenario did Gore gain...a total of 6 votes. Now, I ask you, did you see this on the mainstream media news? Did you see it in the paper. (a few reported it...deep in the paper)
Now, ask yourself. If Gore would have won, do you think for an instant that it would not have been above the fold on every newpaper in the WORLD, and on every television news station...around the world.
Of course there is a bias. This is one simple example, and the examples are wide spread and huge in number.
Katy...it is funny how when you liberals want to show that we have no media bias, you turn to the media with probably the single most liberla reporting on the planet. Compared to the BBC, our media would look much less slanted. ROFL
Dizz...SLIGHTLY RIGHT OF CENTER??? ROFLMFAO. You must be joking, right? Thank you for the sincere laugh. If the 3 networks, the LA Times and the NY Times alone were the only news, they would fall on their left side and crush anything under them, they are so slanted. Slightly right of center...ha ha ha ha ha.
jen...do you consider what you just said as rational thought? The mainstream media NEVER uses "liberal bias". You are hillarious.
EDIT: You are absurd. Try to prove NO BIAS by linking to ABSOLUTELY LIBERAL websites. Do you REALLY think that they would EVER admit media bias? Why did you not link to the ACLU and Moveon.org while you are at it...I bet that they would claim no bias, too.

For the most part there is... it's been that way for years. Most of the media, be it print or tv is biased towards the liberal agenda.
You could see it clearly during the Clinton years when the economy was being retarded at every avenue, they continued to spout how lovely things were, when in fact it was far from good. As we saw post Clinton. Now that things are on an upswing, you see how they bash Bush for everything.
When the price of everything goes up as a result of the Global warming scare, as seen in Al Gore's theories, which are being debunked daily, you will again have it blamed on anyone but who's actually to blame. It's just the way it is.

The Liberal media referrs to those who are involved in it. For instance, polling reveals that nearly 80% of journalists are registered Democrats and support Liberal causes. Add to this the fact that most people in the broadcast business in general are also registered Democrats and support Liberal causes as does much of Hollywood. You then have a pretty good case for the statement that there is a bias in media that favors Liberalism and Democrats.
On the other hand, you have Fox News that simply tries to report the news with no bias and suddenly, it is seen as being virulently Conservative. Yet, there is little difference between the facts being reported. Sure, there are Conservative commentators but they are admittedly biased.
It seems that so much of the mass media is populated by Liberals, they just talk to each other all the time. I think this causes them to erroneously believe that practally everyone thinks as they do. But this is obviously not the case.
If Liberal dogma were actually mainstream, you would not see all the Democratic presidential candidates hiding behind the "Progressive" title and running away from the Liberal title. While on the Republican side, each is trying to present himself as more Conservative than the others.
The unfairness it that Conservative talk show hosts and authors clearly define themselves as such, while Liberal talk show hosts, script writers, directors, producers, actors, pundits, newscasters, reporters, casting directors, models etc. rarly do. They just present their side as being the way it is and anyone with a different opinion is not just wrong but evil or dangerous.
BTW- Media Matters is a liberal organization that Hillary Clinton helped found. It exists only to attempt to discredit Conservatives, not to find the truth in any way, shape or form.

The media is concerned with ratings and selling advertising. They are exactly as politically slanted as their studies tell then to be. If liberal slant sells more "Head-On" then they are going to be liberal today. If tomorrow they determine that conservatism will sell more "Enzyte" then liberals are the scum of the Earth. The media could care less about liberalism or conservatism. They are all about capitalism.

There is no such thing as liberal media. The only effective influence on media is money. Where the money flows, there the media goes.
