Study Skills, Essay Writing.
As the essay paper has evolved it has become more demanding with much more emphasis on posing questions which allow candidates to display the higher order skills. Professor Roy Wilkinson of Sheffield University has identified a pyramid of skills which A level examinations try to test.

do you want to know where to look for information? or how to actually write an essay on a computer? For information google is always the first place to look, but don't rely on the internet you should look at books and journals as well because the information in them is going to be more reliable (you can't believe everything you read on the internet).
If you just want to know how to write an essay then load up microsoft word and mess around, you will pick it up quick enough. if you don't have word then download something called Open Office, this has a word processor package and is free to use.

Just open a Word file [or whatever your system supplies] , put up your title and identifying lines, [name, date, class] then start writing. Essays are primarily opinion pieces, so it should be fairly easy. Your instructor will tell you what format s/he is expecting. Just go for it and have fun. Or in the words of a famous writer, just open a vein and write!

All you need is a word processing program. You probably have one on your computer. It may be Word or Works or WordPerfect. Any will do. You may have to play around a bit to make it do what you want, but essays are usually not complicated, so you won't get into footnotes or bibliographies.

Assuming you have an operating system such as Windows XP, go into Microsoft Works which is usually installed. Click on "programmes", then click on "Blank Word Processor Document". This will give you a blank page on which to write your essay. Be sure to save your work as you go, by clicking on "file" and then on "save". Hope this helps.

Make sure your essay has an introduction and a conclusion. Each paragraph should be based on one particular point you wish to make and then your conclusion should draw each point to a close.
Good Luck!
