I've recently had a major healing in my life and now things are different. I'm living in a new place, have started doing new things. I no longer fit with the people I interacted with in the past. I used to be around a lot of very self-centered people who used me to get their own needs met and were never around when I needed them. Since I've learned to love myself I no longer want those kinds of relationships and am looking for more equality and mutual respect.

Has anyone else here gone through this kind of profound kind of change? How did you go about finding new people in your life? Did you just attract them or did you do something different? None of my old behaviors seem to fit me anymore - even if I behave the way I did in the past, it doesn't quite fit - if that makes sense.

Any insight that you can share would be most welcome.

Thanks!

C

Yes. Some people continue to grow emotionally and spiritually and some seem to be permanently stunted. Unfortunately, hanging out with stunted people that are no longer growing or are unwilling to grow will eventually drag you back down to that level. You need to get new friends. Yes, I know that sounds bad in today's culture, but most psychologist recommend it for a more healthy you. It is not really any different than avoiding hanging out with people that have a communicable disease and refuse to treat it. It is good "mental health".

The way to find people that are at your level is to go where they hang out, which is usually places where people are doing "things" for others and themselves, rather than just "hanging out".

wow, you grew up and others around you have not.

Alot of people have experenced this, I have too. You start fresh start meeting new people that enjoy what you enjoy. Its not as easy I will warn you, but alot more rewarding. You need to go to the places you like now, start talking with others and make friends.
