How about any Pinoy ....whether born here or tied by culture and heritage.....unless they reject that honor.....How about 84 million people living in the archipelago....4 million in America....and millions more around the world.
My wife comes from a tiny fishing village in southern ******.... there is nothing there.....no mall.....no nightclub....no movie house.....no hospital or medical clinic..... nothing but a couple of Sari Sari stores and a small church.....YET my wife LOVES that little village and the people in it....it is the place where she saw her father murdered.....where she almost starved as a child......where she worked as a virtual slave for years just to survive.....resently the village had floods and a red tide problem .....the people were starving.....she took twenty huge bags of rice and gave it away to the people......she gave a huge fiesta for all the village children.... giving some of them the first real food they had had in days..... that simple village is a part of her heart no matter where she travels.....she constantly tries to go back to that wide spot in the road.....she is chain by love to that village......many people feel the same way about the Philippines......whether they are here or in Antarctica.....they are all "Filipinos" in their heart

Real Filipinos are the ones who value their heritage, culture, and their roots...
...although some may not speak the language, or some were born in other places (not citizens at all), or some may not be distinguished as Filipinos (half-, part-, not Filipino at all), they will be considered as real Filipinos if they help their fellow country-men, serving the country (in any manners- service in war, social service, voting the right ones, helps make their surrounding clean and safe, etc), patronizing our own products, appreciates the beauty of the country, and is proud to be 'PINOY'!

The real Filipino, for me, is the common tao you find toiling in the streets under the glaring sun just to earn a few pesos for his family. He has no decent clothes on his back, the soles of his shoes are full of holes yet he doesn't seem to mind all these as he goes along looking for a decent job that can help feed his family. He is constantly worried that the changing world, and his own country for that matter, will affect his and his family's way of life what with the continuing spiraling of costs of even the basic necessities that he presently can ill-afford. He looks up at the sun and hopes that the day will be much kinder to him than it was yesterday or, even the other day or the day before that. He wipes his brows and shakes his head although a bit desolate, he is full of optimism for that one glimmer we all call hope. He is a true Filipino - he never gives up, he is strongest when faced with challenges, he is a true fighter.

Filipinos who don't fake their Tagalog accents to appear more foreign. You know, those who would prefer to send or recieve text messages in english. Or how about those who spend 4 years abroad scrubbing toilets then come back to the Philippines claiming not to remember Tagalog Anymore.

Most certainly not I but I do consider myself to be a stand-by part-time Filipino (if there is such a thing).
