If it was a blown fuse, or the motor was dud, the wipers wouldn't work at all. It's most likely the relay or the actual wiper switch itself which is broken. A relay is a few quid, but you'll need to find out which one it is, since there are a few on a car. If it's the switch, then it's a bit more involved and possibly more expensive. Take it to an auto electrician, who'll have the expertise and equipment to test where the fault is.

If its only the intermittent speed that does not work, then your best bet is to change the relays in the fuse box. Some times the switches inside the relay stick.
Other than that you will need to change the wiper motor as the selector gear in the gear box is broken.

More than likely the problem lies in the switch itself. You would be better off to take it to a collision repair facility to have the work done as their labor rates are substantially less than a dealer. Some shops will not do column work. There are people (at least in this area) who specialize in column work and they will come to you. Usually it's about $100.00 plus the part.

Blades would desire to be worn - I as quickly as shagged a set in 3 hundred iciness miles on the highway. regardless of if, attempt the vinegar trick first, wipe the blades and scrub the reveal with it - any sort, which comprise what you place on your chips. there is oftentimes a build-up of site visitors action picture, such as diesel, oil, rubber, all varieties off the line, on the reveal and screenwash would not shift it. yet another difficulty is that in case you employ a wash & wax to bathe the automobile, the wax can get on the glass.
