I have seen some pictures of this and do not agree with that practice; it is not respectful of the differences in persons' choices in life.

That would very well fall under the meaning of "disrupting the peace" in my opinion--anyone else agree?

Those persons do not represent me at protests requesting peace.

Those who protest at the funerals of our troops and claim they died because God was angry at America for its tolerance of homosexuality are religious fundamentalists and the Republican party should take steps to denounce their action and distance themselves from such extremist fringe groups. Not so long ago, Republicans asked the Democrats to denounce MoveOn.org and labeled them an extremist group to the far left, but what of those to the far right? Is it okay to accept their money and their votes when they donate to you and vote for you, but protest our troops deaths because of our tolerance of homosexuality? But somehow it's not okay for MoveOn.org to question the motives of a man who met with the Bush Administration before he wrote his report, for them to ask for his honest, unbiased report on the situation in Iraq, for them to ask for a new direction so we can save our troops lives and the lives of Iraqi civilians, hand over responsibility to the Iraqi military, government and to the people themselves and to save American tax payers money, and finally for them to ask that our troops be brought home safely? This is America and though we may not agree with everything everyone says, we should all be willing to defend to the death their right to say it.

I think over 95 percent of the population would be in agreement on this. Funerals are definitely not the place to protest.

I am a firm believer in our first ammendment right to Freedom of Speech. But am equally a firm believer in self sensorship. These people (if we are referring to those who protest the war at servicemen's funerals) are from a "Baptist" church but neither represent God, nor the greater Christians and Baptists of this great nation. They are self serving and are behaving badly. There is a price to be paid for freedom, I think it's time THEY start paying.

If by Protesters at funerals you are referring to Fred Phelps and his Westbory Babtist church which was recently ordered to pay $11 million in restitution to the family of a US soldeir killed in Iraq - they are not protesting for peace. They are protesting against homosexuality. Their protest has nothing to do with the people they are disturbing with their protest. They are just drawing attention to themselves with this heinous behavior.

It looks like this attention will come with a price tag.

LET THE DEAD REST IN PEACE ! I think only loved ones should be there out of respect all others shouldn't be allowed if they are not there for respect. There are other times and places for things like that NOT AT funerals

Once you protest at a funeral you are no longer protesting the war, but a person. I think that only encourages the stupidity that is perpetuating this war.

Well now, this is all according to whether this funeral is a private closed-door event or if it is a public event.

Protesters always show up at public events, and the law allows it.

Why should the religious right wing radicals show up at AIDS Walk and cast a finger at those who are trying to raise money for the sick, but they do, wiht their "The End Of The World Is At Hand" signs.

I haven't seen the photos you are referring to; but the Westboro Baptist Church (Topeka, Kansas) are usually the group who protests at military funerals.

These guys claim to be Baptists, but they aren't Christians at all. Their church motto is "God Hates (Slang for Homosexuals)!" and everything that happens in America is part of God's punishment for allowing Homosexuality.

FAIR WARNING: There's a link to Wikipedia in the source box, it will probably make you mad. (It got me going, and I *know* they are a bunch of crazies!) If you choose to click it and read, then don't fuss at me!

I've been to war protests and this one makes me sick. The protesters were wrong to take it to the funeral. The family is entitled to a peaceful funeral and throwing politics into was wrong!
This type of protest does nothing for the cause.
