I bought a 2 piece suits and took the pants for altering and the cleaner lost my pants. They told me to buy a whole new suits and will only reimburse me the whole suits if I give them the jacket (from the suits that they lost my pants) so they could file an insurance claims. I was wondering if this is right.
Any insurance people out there that can help me? Do I really need to give them my jacket in order for the dry cleaner people to file claim with their insurance?
I asked for their insurance company's name and phone number but they refuse to provide it to me.

You ought to be able to give them the brand name and how about a picture of it. Do you have the receipt from when you bought it? Give them that. It seems like they should give you money to replace the suit if the pants alone cannot be replaced. Then you could give them the top. Maybe whoever took the top at the dry cleaners wants the bottom to match!

If you want to be reimbursed for the loss of your pants, you have to turn over the jacket, you bought it as a suit and the only way their insurance will cover it is if you purchase a new suit and turn in the unlost item. If you don't want to turn over the jacket, only when you have the new suit and a copy of the receipt, then don't expect them to reimburse you for the loss. This is common practice with dry cleaners. Let them make it right. Purchase a new suit and let them pay for it by turning in the jacket after you buy the new suit.

No, that still doesn't sound right.. I would contact your insurance company or any attorney and see what they suggest you do... They should be kissing your butt because they lost the pants to your suit... NOT the other way around.. I would contact a lawyer, maybe if you have a friend/family member that's a lawyer have them write a letter... They shouldn't need anything from you to file the claim.. What's with this dry cleaner, trying to get the jacket. !!!! Good luck, oh also document like mad ANY all dealings you have with this dry cleaner/staff... Date, time conversation, etc... In case you have to take this to small claims court.. Also, does the dry cleaner have a "contract" or anything in writing about reimbursement/loss of a customers items.. You know like by the register or anything like that...? It would be good to familiarise yourself with that information.. Some put a "disclaimer" on their receipts even... Good luck

For a million- This woman is fried! if she thinks u could pass and replace the blazers to ur fits in her length after she's already screwed u over by way of dropping them!!!!!!!!!!!! that's purely incorrect! i'd actual pass to the save u offered them and tell them the region. possibly they are in a position to furnish some suggestion on what to do besides as furnish u with a receipt of the completed amt. of the fits fee. As i'm helpful u already have a receipt for ur very own information. i'd be tempted to call the police and document a grievance there besides as with the bbb. i'd additionally examine with different dry cleaners on your area and ask them in the event that they'd desire to lose or harm any of your outfits what's their coverage on something like that. That way u already comprehend what u r entering into previously anymore of ur outfits pass lacking someplace else. i do no longer stay in chi-city so i can't suggestion u on the regulations for something of this nature. sturdy success with this.. what a load of crap on that woman's behalf! i think for u take care.
