For your information is FYI, and PS, means Post Script, as in something put in after the body of a letter. They're completely different. One can use FYI just about anywhere and PS is usually used in a letter when adding something to the end after closing. A person can be talking and say something like; oh hey, FYI, i left extra food in the fridge for you.

FYI and PS are completely different. There is no way in hell they could possibly be the same.

FYI = For Your Information

PS: Post Salutation (sp?) - a short afterthought put after the close of a letter.

FYI = for your information
PS= Post signature or after the signature. The signature ends a letter, but if you had an after thought the you would tack on PS below your signature

FYI stands for For Your Information, something which the writer wants the reader to know.

P.S. stands for 'post scriptum' or 'after writing', which means a note added after the main part of something was completed and possibly signed.

Just as an extra, NB stands for 'nota bene' which translates to 'note well' but means 'pay attention to this, it's important!'. I add this in case you get that added to or in place of FYI.
