I have a belkin router. On there you go into your settings, then security. You can set a security password for your router there, as well as choosing WEP settings, and allowing only the computers on your network to use it. You may get a list of keys; highlight these and print/print selection. Make a note of what you have done, and SAVE CHANGES. If that doesn't work, you just reverse what you have done, again saving changes. Netgear may be easier, but I would imagine, most routers follow the same principles.

Is it wireless? If so turn the SSID broadcast off and set security to only allow the devices you specify on. You can do that by going into the routers setup and specifying security by MAC address.
It's in the manual.

Netgear is the default name of the router assigned at the factory.
If it's a Linksys router this is the setup address, just plug it into your browser http://192.168.1.1/

There's a default password in the manual that will allow you to access the site then you will be able to reprogram your router.
It's pretty easy.

Hhhhmmm contact the army and install 50mm chain guns around your house, make sure you get the infra red version so as your neighbours try to use your band width the guns let loose making them brown bread!!

It'll probably be under WIRELESS SETTINGS.

Make sure it's set to WPA-PSK - it's more secure than WEP.
