I've had high cholesterol pretty much all my life. They discovered it when I was 16...... that was 21 years ago. My parents cut virtually all of the fat out of my diet. Even went so far as only allowing me to have powdered milk. My cholesteral never budged. I wasn't overweight the, because I was extremely active in high school. When I graduated and got out of the whole athletics scene, I quickly put on weight.....80 pounds in all. Nothing I did seemed to help my weight or my cholesterol. (High school I kept my weight down because I was obsessed.... probably nearly anorexic.... about it. Ate very little and spent an average of 3 hours a day with vigorous exercise.) I finally tried Atkins...... minimal carbohydrates, and all carbohydrates come from healthy foods like vegetables. Both my weight and my cholesterol dropped. I was amazed. It was the first time my cholesterol got anywhere near normal. And I had tons of energy.

Lots of fruit and veggies. If you get tired of them, possibly upload a few hummus or peanut butter for dipping. Protein bars are well power, however not anything else that your frame would want and they are no longer probably the most tasty. A bagel, too, would sound terrible however it is going to provide you carbs and you'll get it in complete wheat or egg.

You NEED fat, e.g. omega 3, 6 and 9 they're good fats. Chances are, you are consuming fat, please, be sensible about what you're eating. It varies from person to person, but around 15% of you calories ought to be coming from fat. Around 50% from carbohydrates and the rest from protein.
