You think that America should strong arm the rest of the world to protect itself against depleting energy resources?
I think that the world has had enough of America strolling the globe like a spoilt school-yard bully. Might isn't the same as right. And with the prodigious mineral, human and energy resources it has to command, all experts say that America's world power will soon be eclipsed by China. It has massive land space, is a nuclear power and has an army of phenomenal size.
The world "come to order"? Whose order? The Americans? What a staggeringly short-sighted, selfish and jingoistic point of view! When the States enters the next recession which is due shortly according to experts, I expect this sort of "order" will be the envy of the world. Grow up for goodness' sake. It's gung-ho opinions like your that cause wars.

Come back to sanity and get in touch with the real world.

You are speaking of impossibilities and what you propose is not even in line with U. S. policies towards the rest of the world.

In order for us to accomplish what you propose, we would have to conquer and govern the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, the Baltic, the United Kingdom, Europe ... everywhere in the world where there is an oil well, refinery, or nuclear reactor.

Cindy Sheehan would have a heart attack! Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry would turn to drink! The hot air increase from the U.N. alone would raise global temperatures at LEAST 10 degrees! All of the environmental whackos and Al Gore would drop dead from stress!

Hmmmmm ... Sounds good to me - let's DO IT!

i do not think it will. While America has been very powerful its power is only an illusion now. We have most of our troups in a foreign country our currency is at a record low, the governments approval rating is at a record low, we owe several trillion dollars and are currency trying to build our economy and influence in other countries, which while cheaper takes away power from America. China on the other hand is extremely rich owns a lot of Americas "shares", is building its economy in China at an alarmingly fast rate, has amazing, environmental technology, and has an extremely large influence over the world.

You're NUTS! Why don't we 'capture' all the air and water while we're at it ! Why stop there ,we could try to capture all the food as well! Who would do all that 'capturing'? Where would you put all the energy supplies once they're 'captured'?
Are you a12 yr old ? Do you even know how big the world is?

That will never happen... If we find a way to capture all of the light of the sun, and mediate it's distribution to the planet, then maybe... Perhaps when America is run by the robots of the Matrix...

Never. We cant even get passed the tree hugging stoned drunks to drill in our own stuff.

We cant build refineries
We cant drill our own oil
We cant build new power plants
We cant build new coal mines (or update the existing ones).

Basically environmentalism has costs this country so much in the way of our independence that they could not have done a better job if they were blatantly trying to destroy this country.

And Hydrogen isnt the answer, even if we budgeted over a trillion dollars today, it would take over twenty years to convert everything over.

Ethanol isnt either because we'd have to turn 97% of our country into corn fields to meet the demand, and then we still wouldnt have any corn to eat.

Please put down the kaleidoscope and take a good look at the real world. This country puts out more effort to aid this entire world than it might attempt to receive. I believe many who snivel about what this government does are the ones who's main interest is the money and not the welfare of those we share this planet with.

What you fail to realize is it is not America gain control. It is the power families who control America. At any given time they can redistribute that energy somewhere else. They can pack up camp and leave, or they can just import new people if you start making them angry. They can also decrease your benefits and increase those of the new immigrants.

People are disillusion to think the American people are not as expenable as the next guy.

I don't see it in the cards. We're not in the business of conquering the world. Never were. China and Russia would never stand for it. As long as we continue to play it straight we'll continue to pay tin pot dictators and low lifes for our energy!

I think the US needs to move rapidly away from gasoline to a hydrogen based economy. That way we can take oil out of all of our foreign policy equations .
