I'll be making Peppermint Bark for the third year in a row. Everyone loves it.

Put candy canes in a strong food storage bag. Break them into small pieces (I use an ice cream scooper). Melt white chocolate chips in a large bowl. Place a piece of plastic food wrap on a cookie sheet. Spread a layer of white chocolate on the plastic wrap and chill. Then put the broken candy canes in the remaining white chocolate and mix. Pour the chocolate/candy canes mixture on top of the chilled layer of white chocolate. Take a few larger pieces of broken candy cane to decorate the top. (My bag ends up getting holes, so I pick it up and "shake" it over the white chocolate; it sprinkles minuscule red & green over the top.) Then chill. (I refridgerate overnight.) The next morning, take the tray out, and break up the solid chocolate into pieces with a butter knife. Line a cookie tin with plastic wrap, pile pieces of the Peppermint Bark in it, put the lid on, and stick a bow on top.

I made ornaments for the Xmas tree out of beads. Found some beads in Xmas colors that would show the lights thru them, kinda a suncatcher, [except for the tree, not the window], strung them in a straight line. I left 2 inches of wire for the hanger, and put beads on that, too, and stuck the end of the hanger back down into the line, and crimped it off. Really turned out pretty, if I do say so myself. I bought some pink heart shaped beads that are crackly, and strung them for myself. I also found some acrilic ones at the local bead store, and at Michaels, and am stringing them now. Saw some similar at the hobby store, really proud of myself for getting there first with the idea.
Hand made Jewelry works, especially in Christmas themes, or winter themes. Snowflakes, icicles, charms, all welcome around Xmas. If you don't make jewelry, try the Michaels website, or take a class. I learned the basic technique in about 20 minutes. My friend made a neclace for her Mom that looked like melting ice. Really pretty.
Etch a set of glasses, make toys from wood, crochet snowflakes or angels, buy a candle and decorate it. Make a purse or a carry satchel, and decorate it with beads.
Make a tree skirt, there are patterns in the fabric store in the pattern books. Make a Xmas stocking. or a hand made garland.

Cookies
Baked Goods
Candy
Gifts in a Jar (soup mixes, etc)
Notecards using scrapbooking supplies
Knit scarf, blanket, etc
Tree ornaments
wreaths
coupon book to do things with/for the other person
candles - dipped, rolled beeswax or in a jar
soaps & lotions - they sell kits at the craft store
ceramics depending on how crafty you are

This year we are giving everyone hand painted flower pots that have a cutting from one of our plants in it (spider plant or philadendron). It comes out pretty cheap, like $3-5 each since you can get most of the supplies at the dollar store or at the craft store when they are on sale. If you don't have a plant to do a cutting from, you can always buy a few small spice plants, like rosemary which smells Christmasy, and use them instead.

What are your talents? I like to write and draw. A homemade greeting card with special words for each person would be my choice. The drawing can be copied from a copier machine and often the same words can be used. But most of all; do these things in the spirit of the season. with a joyful heart.

well i make cookies, put them in a nice decorated jar then buy some tags at like a craft or scrapbook store and write the ingredients on it and on the other side the instructions, so i make simple cookies. i buy the biggest tags they have because the instructions sometimes take a bit of space. or i take a separate tag, front and back, for the instructions,

Pictures/Photos are always good gifts especially for parents and grandparents. Take old pictures of family members and make a collage, frame it and there is a gift that comes from the heart and one they will surely enjoy for a long time.

People love personalized items. You can create monogram plaques or wall hangings or door name plates ....all made out of wood (you can find lightweight wood pieces in many shapes and sizes along with paints and stencils at craft stores.)
