Mostly this is a bunch of junk...However, one day, an asteroid could fly into the Earth and cause such immense damage that in all probability we would be dead. There is little that could be done to stop such an event. The idea that it could be predicted by someone as happening on 12-21-2012 would have to mean that they know more than the huge body of Astronomers and Scientists out there today, which I seriously doubt.
However, to put your mind at ease, you will not have to wait for 2012 for the world to come to an end. If Hillary Clinton wins the office of President of the USA in the November,
2008, elections, the world as we now know it will cease to exist.

Ask yourself. If it were real, why would no one except middle school students believe it? Are middle school students tuned in to secret sources of information unavailable to adults. Or is it because middle school students watched a sensationalist History Chanel program that made wild, unsubstantiated claims that no one in the scientific community would take seriously for a second?
If it were real wouldn't the world (outside the middleschools) be reacting? Wouldn't the evening news be devoting nightly segments on the approaching end of the world? Wouldn't news magazines and newspapers be filled with the story and littered with quotes from scientists and religious leaders.
If you notice the press is silent about this coming catastrophe. Ask yourself why. Is it because of some huge government plot that silenced the media after the accidental release of information on the History Channel? Or is it all BS.
Weigh the facts. I think you might come to the correct answer, Einstein.

the world surely won't end on 12/21/2012 but it'll surely come to an end when the sun uses all its fuel & after it's red giant stage, it'll explode.this may happen millions of years later.

Hype. The calendar years are just a succession of numbers assigned for measuring time. There is no other significance.

there have been end-of-international predictions going back 4,seven-hundred years. this is merely yet another one. the version is our 24/7 information information attainable now. this is what some human beings prefer to hearken to approximately (the reason a lot of those predictions floor interior the 1st place). So the media performs it up, yet now with a much better potential to realize greater human beings.

It isn't even hype. To call it hype suggests that there's something happening to remain calm about. Not even that. Even to say there's no serious discussion about it in science or religion circles is to give it credence. There's no discussion at all. Not even on the radar.

It is just hype.
In 2013 all the people who are so vocal about it now will get very quiet and not want to talk about it any more.

I don't believe in that. I believe that date has something to do with the Incan calendar. I believe the incan calendar ends on that date, and so people assume that's when the world will end.
