There is a double a standard. See how easily Halle Berry was forgiven for her comments, yet Imus and Dog weren't. However, I don't think any of those three individuals are racist, but I think they made stupid comments. There's a certain standard for whites in this country. It doesn't seem fair. 2D

Whites are portrayed as racists because the liberal media paints them that way. The focus is always on Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton a couple of mindless racist idiots themselves. Overkill was the Jena 6. I was called a "honkie" by a small black child in a store once, what were his parents teaching him or saying in their home about whites? Yet if I as a white person would have said some deragatory slang about them, I would have been called a racist on the spot! And yes, there are double standards, how about the Miss Black America, what if there was only a Miss White America? Why are blacks given a free ride to colleges, I can't even send my kids to college....too much money! And just for the record, slavery was started by blacks, so don't give us any of the garbage about slavery!

I have heard people claim that blacks cannot be racist, by definition. But it's a weird definition. Actually, as my father-in-law used to say, "The only thing wrong with black people is that they're just like white people."
That said, we live in a society in which there has -always- been affirmative action for white men. Racism by whites has been more pervasive and effective than that by blacks.
There have been many white organizations -- only they've mostly been mislabeled as "people" organizations. Any group that feels it has something in common can form a club, even an evil club, like those Nazi groups.
But most of us don't feel that just being white is a bond between us. (When racism is gone, there won't be any bond in just being black, either, and people will find that sad, but it isn't.) There are organizations that have a narrower focus, like the Irish-American Club, or the Tamburiztans, that tend to be mostly people from a certain background, but just being white isn't enough.

This is a very touchy subject. I would love everyone to take a step back and just think twice before we speak. Then I would hope that no one would say things that hurts, no matter the race. How many of you grow up poor or not being able to get everything, you wanted. How many people had one parent who worked two to three jobs to just try to put food on the table? No,matter your ethnic group. We all have a story of having someone say something racist, if we could just remember all the people who gave their lives to change the world.

There's no NAAWP because white people have never needed one.
Segregation only ended 50 years ago, it's going to take time for things to balance out.
You might think black people are more protected then you, but if you were black and going for a job interview/driving through a nice neighbourhood/ etc etc, you'd know that's not the case.
I'm so sick of questions like this, white people have it easier than any other race.
Were your ancestors brought to America as slaves? Did you ever have to sit at the back of the bus and drink out of different water fountains? Have you ever been brutally attacked by the police because of the colour of your skin?
No?
Well then, stop complaining.

It is wrong to judge anyone without knowing them. There are some people who fit stereotypes of race or sex or religion. But not everyone fits so well into little categories. We are all people. Being a certain race should not prevent you from getting a job, but it shouldn't help you get the job. It shouldn't matter one way or other.

Because of all the mess they put the blacks through in the 60s. You can still be racist without being white. I know many blacks that are racist of their own color. People are racist for so many stupid reasons.
