I also don't think there is any such thing as too early. We found out on Aug 19th that my youngest daughter was pregnant (she was 7 weeks) and we went shopping on Aug. 20th. It was the best day of shopping that I have ever had. Thinking you could be jinxed is just superstition. Have fun and congrats.

I would say wait until the first trimester passes, you have your first scan and you make sure everything is ok. If you intend to find out what you are having then wait until after your 20 week scan and then go shopping.
I am 32 weeks pregnant and just bought all the things i need for the baby's hospital bag last weekend. In the next few weeks will buy the moses basket, car seat etc. Will just stick to buying the essentials now and then stock up as i need things.

In my opinion, now that the internet is safer and more stricter controls are being made on vendors of consumer items around the world, there has never been a better time to kick the high street shop into touch. Buy your new born items online and have them sent to you. In this way you can start shopping whenever you like.
Reputable world wide vendors will very often allow you to hold items with them or pay for them at a later date after ordering them and you have a world wide market at your finger tips to get the very best for your new addition to the family. It'll also negate the extra stress and hassle of having to push a pram around the markets and shops. Do you have other children? Have you ever tried getting a pram in a lift to go to the third floor of a department store during the Christmas rush?!
Nope in the 21st Century online shopping is the ticket! Make the most of it so you can enjoy your new born when he/she comes a long!

well i'm almost 10 weeks and i put a deposit on a pram about 2 weeks ago just because i had seen the one i wanted and it was on offer so put a deposit on it and then i'll just pay for it when i go and pick it up when i'm ready for it. As for the other things i'm not going to buy anything else until after my 20 week scan because otherwise i know i'll spend the rest of the time getting it out and looking at it plus my house is being done up and the babies room is currently a bit of a dumping room with storage cupboards in and where i do my ironing. Also they can't tell the sex of your baby until your 20 week scan if you want to know that is (i do although i'm convinced its a girl).

This is such a personal thing, you have to start shopping when it feels right for you. After 3 miscarriages I won't shop until the baby is born, I won't have anything in the house other than my hospital bag, but with my son I started buying things after my 12 week scan. Just do what you feel is right, your family are bound to be excited. Happy pregnancy and loads of luck :-)

I am 25 weeks and have yet to buy anything. Now, I am going to shop for a crib though. I was told not to buy anything until your baby is to the point where if they were born early, they still have a chance at living. You are only 7 weeks, therefore unfortunately not out of the danger zone. I had the hardest time trying not to buy anything, but dont buy too much right now, or you will just keep buying the whole time! Congrats!!!!

first things first CONGRATS hunnie, you can go shopping whenever you like love and you have the right to be as excited and giddy as you like!
Maybe you will pick things up from shops as and when or maybe you will blitz it all in one go, either way ENJOY IT!
Everyone has there own opinions and some like to wait until after 12 weeks etc and some women like to go out and buy cute little things straight away so do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
I am 14 weeks pregnant at the moment and have two other children 10+5 years so me and OH have decided to get xmas out of the way for us first and then to start buying stuff after then but this is also due to lack of funds!
good luck hunnie and make sure you enjoy every minute of it x

after my 12 week scan i went and bought the baby one outfit, then after they heard the heartbeat at my 16 week blood test i went and bought another outfit, then at 20 week scan i found out the sex and went and bought her some pink hats and mits, and socks too. then i started shopping about 25-26 weeks and didnt stop, i couldnt help it, i had done all shopping by 35 weeks she had everything...haha. but my midwife said it was a good idea as she prefers the mum to be to be resting at 35 weeks and not really late shopping, it also gave my partner chance to check for faulty goods and get everything ready for her arrival x x p.s dont get me wrong if there were sales on i would pop in and see if i could get anything, e.g baby sling worth 40.00 for 19.99 bargain x x
congrats and good luck to the both of u x x

hello
I'm 19 weeks and i have my scan tomorrow and just couldn't wait, im going to find out the sex so i've bought everythng except clothes and anything i might want to be a girly or boyish colour. I'd say shop when you feel you want to. I did buy 1 thing before 3 months but felt too guilty to buy anything else coz of superstition

It's never too soon, but some people like to wait until the 3 month mark before they start shopping and telling everyone. Why not take advantage of any end of season sales between now and your due date!? I know I would not be able to help myself from buying little outfits/babygro's etc! So adorable! And at least you can get all the stuff your little one's going to need over the next few ,months rather than having to buy it all in one big hit!!
Congratulations and happy shopping!! : )
