I have painted glass jars and then filled them with homemade candies.
Cut out and painted wooden Christmas tree decorations. (There are some great painting and wood craft christmas magazines out!)
Fleece throws and matching pillows (the high school aged cousins loved them and they are not at college with them!)
Cinnamon ornament garlands for the mantle
Good luck and have fun crafting!!

Good for you! I love doing homemade gifts, but I haven't had the time lately (2 kids under the age of 4, plus I'm working on my Masters).
You can check out www.freepatterns.com for ideas. You have to register with them, but it is free. They have ideas for crochet, quilting, sewing, plastic canvas, knitting, general crafts, etc. I have found some wonderful ideas on there, and you can download them for free.
I agree with others as well who said to check out michaels or other craft stores. Even a local library might have some books on hand that have ideas and patterns.

Stockings or a wall art to match your tree skirts, beaded or any other kind ornaments[I did suncatchers out of bead for the tree], etching glassware for candles or drinking, purses or carry bags, custom lunch carriers, winter or Xmas themed jewelry, wreaths or floral displays.
Make a pretty planter, and put a pointsettia in it. Xmas topiaries for outdoor or indoor.

Go to your local ceramic's shop and pick out some small
items that you can paint, and be fired for you before the
Holidays.
With all the "commercialism" out there, you have the true
meaning of giving for Christmas. Just don't leave out ():-})>{+

You could make decorative photo albums with fabric, personalized with scrap book materials, names, and decorative embellishments. Lots of people have "boxes" of photos that need a display photo album. 8:)
A hot glue gun helps.
