As I have said for weeks since I actually saw some ASU games and looked at their schedule, they weren't that good to begin with. They arent as bad as former #2 South Florida but they are not that good. LSU beat a tough conference rival in Alabama. Having said that, is Oregon playing better football than LSU right now? I think so but dont worry, before the season is over it will be LSU #1, Oregon #2 and they will play for the championship.

Because while Oregon did handily defeat #4 Arizona State, you have to look at the whole over resume of the 2 teams. Oregon has beat #12 Michigan, #19 USC, and now #8 Arizona State. LSU has beaten Florida, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, and a out of conference game vs. Virginia Tech. I think that clearly with LSU's record combined with their strength of schedule are the better team than Oregon.
Oregon is #3 as a result of their schedule. They could possibly be #1 if it was based on TALENT alone. But it's not. I mean...REALLY...does ANYONE think Ohio State is the most TALENTED team...no.
My Top 5 goes as so:
1. LSU
2. Oregon
3. Kansas
4. Oklahoma
5. West Virginia
As you can notice...OSU is NOWHERE in this top 5. All these teams could beat OSU on a neutral field.

I'm an SEC fan, but I will tell you that I think Oregon is the better team. They would certainly get my vote at #2.
Overall strength of schedule is what is keeping LSU ahead of Oregon, and the Tigers will likely finish ahead of the Ducks going into the bowls if they win out. But in my opinion, LSU has had too many close calls for me to keep them at #2. Auburn and Alabama are dangerous teams, but with LSU's raw talent, they should've handled them better.
I think it's debatable as to which conference is better, the Pac-10, or the SEC. I think the Pac-10, teams 1-5, is better. But 1-10, the SEC is better.

Hmm...no idea LSU is 5-1 against ranked teams. Oregon is 3-1 . Even if Arizona St. wins out rest of year i dont think it will validate Oregon in the polls eyes. I will give them this, took some huge ones to go to Michigan 2nd week of season and play. Then put a good schedule together and will surely get nothing in return in the end. Cal was ranked #6 when they beat Oregon

LSU is the SEC Champions, yet they misplaced to 2 unranked communities in the SEC. whilst LSU loses this evening, will you submit an ignorant excuse "Why they'd desire to've gained" or much greater ideal "How undesirable the refs have been"... you may pull #'s out of your A$% all you opt for, yet you may no longer sit down there and without question and say that LSU merits to be considered one of in trouble-free terms 2 communities that would desire to have a brilliant gamble to play for the national Championship.

And by the way, LSU was lucky to beat Alabama. No, I can't tell you why. LSU just doesn't look very good to me, the Ducks do. Maybe next week... we'll see.

Because LSU lost to a #22 Kentucky (#14 at the time) and Oregon lost to a unranked California team (#23 at the time)
I think this season its who you loss to, not who you beat.

It doesn't just go by the last opponent. It factors in the teams you've faced all year, and LSU plays in a much tougher conference.

Because Arizona state was WAY overrated, and still would have beat Oregon if their QB had been healthy. Kansas is the one who should be rated higher. So should Oklahoma.
