Both. I'd keep the best stuff for exhibits, but I'd churn out some paintings to sell as well. Not to become wealthy, but simply because artists have to eat too.

You churn the work for money. That's how you make your living.

For the really good stuff, you put it in the exhibits and such. That's how you make your name.

I think that depends. if I was stinking rich in the first place, i might want to spread the love so to speak. however i think true fans would be willing to show their appreciation for your talent through monetary contributions or free advertising. i guess to answer your question i really have no clue.

do what you always did. if people buy it then that's fine but don't make stuff with selling it in mind.

if you do that then, as with music, what you produce will ultimately be crap
