There are many different "crisis" going on. Everybody is too obsessed with fixing thier own crisis and not relating to each other for a mutually beneficial answer to the problems.

I think that too few people even KNOW what the crises are!

Those that do are either pretending problems like global warming, climate change, desertification, extinction of species, etc. are ideas cooked up by politicians and "tree-huggers" and therefore not real.

Others, can't decide on any issue at all until one hits them in the face or pocket book.

Some know, but don't think anything global will effect them in any way.

There are a few that can look at themselves as part of a global community. That requires abstract thinking, knowledge of cultures other than their own, and a very, very open mind.

Unfortunately, too many people have closed their minds. They find religion as a source for all "facts" in the past, now and in the future. I find it interesting that the West went through the "Dark Ages," whereas the East never ceased to gather knowledge and seek answers. I think that's because of the "guilt factor" built into Christianity. Christianity as well as some other religions like to say "every thing is god's plan." The 2004 Tsunami was god's plan???

One of the USA's founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, said, "To follow by faith alone is to follow blindly."

Sometimes I think people want to be blind.

Here in Redneck, USA we let the world drift by unnoticed. We are to concerned about how to afford our heating, and electrical bills this winter when the cost of gas and insurance is taking more out of our wallets and the companies we work for are asking for volunteers to be laid off or take early retirement. Everything is costing more and we're bringing home less money than last year. I do care for the fate of the soldiers fighting though, I myself am a veteran. However, I could care less about why they are over there since the truth is so clouded and private agendas seems to run the war. I just want them to do their job they are told to do and come home safe. The media is always creating another boogie man to scare me into watching more news. Now I can die from microwave popcorn fumes? The news never fails to find me more ways to die. To heck with the world, I'm busy raising kids, loving my family, and enjoying everyday I'm on this planet. Find an older adult, like 80+, and ask them about how things were before WWII here in the states, the depression, and the global food shortages. We ain't got it so bad.

Most of my friends are very politically active. What I have seen in America is the religious right pushing our politicians and most of the media to follow their beliefs. And alot of these beliefs are not exactly as Christ-like as the Bible says to be. I try not to openly worry I try to find ways to make at least small things better for as many people as I can.

Philippians 4:6 prohibits specifically to worry about anything!!!
However as concerned citizens we must always be informed and pray for our leaders that they will make the right decisions so that we may live a quiet and Godly life. We must do what we can to promote peace and prosperity for all.
-------------------------------
Phl 4:6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
-------------------------------
1Ti 2:1¶I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;
1Ti 2:2For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1Ti 2:3For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1Ti 2:4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
1Ti 2:5For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

ausblue has the right idea. The media have a tremendous political agenda to move countries, especially the USA to the left. Way left. So anything they can say or do(including make it look like we're all going down the tubes financially) to achieve that political agenda is fair game. That's why they don't care about reporting the news. They just report as much bad news as they can. But take heart because of talk radio, the net, the churches and the synagogues, we know now that things are getting BETTER for many many people, not worst!

I'm not too sure which one you're referring to, but I rarely hear people talk much about terrorism these days. The world economy is never stable and is mostly volatile all the time.

But I do notice that lots of people are becoming quite conscious about the environment and global warming. Which I think is excellent. If more people acknowledge environmental issues, more people will be inspired to do things about it.

I think people have learned to live with all the problems going on in the world.

most people are oblivious to the problems in the world. we all have cell phones that can make pancakes, televisions that can get TV shows on other planets and our drug dealers on speed dial.

the world is crumbling. oil is running out and there are to many delusional power hungry despots in charge who have forgotten what is most important about being a leader, and that is his people.

all of this and no one seems to care. as i always say " I'll see you in hell"-GoSANE
