longer?

Happy people live longer than unhappy people - its a proven fact.

So if you are single and happy you will more likely live longer than someone who is married and miserable.

Generally people don't like being lonely so there aren't that many happy single people - especially in later life when people look back and think "Man, I have been lonely all my life". Me? I'm married and happy so I should be around for ages!!

Unless they kill each other, figuratively. LOL. There is more stress in relationships than in singles. Bring children into that equation and multiply by 10. There is the matter of quality of life. Most people wish to have a partner, even with an attending level of stress. Confirmed single people, unless they have work, hobbies, etc, that fully occupy their time will eventually see and experience the emptiness in their lives before their last breath. Happiness is a relative and unmeasurable state. On a scale of 1 to 10 , going to a fair may be 2 for you and 9 for me: a poetry reading may be 0 for you and 10 to me.
Lifetime sickly people , wether single or married, have lived to a ripe old age. Seamingly healthy people, single or married, have kicked the bucket early. There is no rhyme or reason except maybe genetics.
Live a good life and enjoy it, no matter the length.

Research shows that marriage contributes to good health, and people who are healthier tend to live longer. Married men and women are less likely to have drinking problems , commit suicide, and develop mental problems. They also tend to eat more healthfully and exercise more frequently.
The reason that married people tend to be healthier and live longer than unmarried people is complex and not fully understood. Some researchers point to the “marriage protection hypothesis,” which attributes the health benefits of marriage to the social, psychological, economic, and environmental effects of marriage. Others theorize that healthy people are simply more likely to get married. But most researchers fall somewhere in between: they believe that, while it is true that healthy people may be more likely to get married, marriage itself is associated with certain health benefits that can increase your chances of living a long, healthy life. I Really hope this info helps.Good Luck

Married women live, on average, four years longer than single women. Married me live ten years longer than single men. It probably does seem longer.

I believe that married people live longer because of the support base they have which is the family.

No, it's true. Married people live longer because they have the other person to support them emotionally. When you age it is bad to be alone; I'm aging and alone right now but hope to meet someone soon for friendship so I'm not so isolated. Having a dog also helps.

I think they "used too", but not anymore ! Debunked is the male age of dying at 52 or so and as we grow older, we MUST be happy and the single most dreaded thing is, STRESS ! If you have stress in your marriage, have the corner on speed-dial, without, have your travel agent ! Some levels of stress cause a multitude of other illnesses that could have been avoided that ar only found in the marriage ! Marriage is a great thing and should be, was meant to be, can be and growing old together is the dream !

Married men and women live longer, as long as the relationship is healthy. If there is constant stress in the relationship, strokes, high blood pressure, and popped blood vessels are common which means you die.
