im a really big harry potter fan i felt the last book was like getting all the answers you have been looking for, i read the book before my husband and every other page their was something amazing to tell him! i sort of suspected earlier snape had feelings for lilly but it made me angry at snape for being so nasty to harry but and the same time i forgived him, when in his memories defending harry to dumbledore when he realises harry has to die.

I never would have suspected that Snape loved Lilly. I always thought that he had feelings for her but not a loving relationship. Snapes part in the last book was the biggest surprise. I used to hate snape, but thinking of all the things he went through i now only hate him a little bit.

I can only imagine what Snape must have felt when the love of his life picked his enemy over him. That contributed to some of the main feelings of hatred towards Harry. Sometimes I even think that Snape might have even grown to love Harry...

It wasn't a surprise to me. I think everyone suspected it because why else would Snape help Harry. I mean Dumbledore did have an effect over his decision, but in the end Snape held Lily in high regard. The only thing that bothered me was when J.K. Rowling said that if Snape didn't join the death eaters, Lily would have married him. That's pretty creepy to me, but that's just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, Snape is pretty cool. I'm just happy he turned out to be such a good person and that he was actually helping all along.

Was pretty sure Snape was in love with Lily sometime in the third book I think.

I just know that when Snape wanted to look into Harry's eyes before he died, I had a few tears welling up.

I remember years ago wondering why Harry's eyes looking like his mom's eyes was so important. Especially when we found out it wasn't the color that was important.

Because Snape could see Lily in Harry's eyes. Classic!

So-So book until the last couple chapters.

I also ignore the epilogue.

Funny you should ask, I'm now listening to the audiobook DH and I was up really late last night listening to Snape's memrories. This is my 3rd time going through this book.

Before DH came out, I was wondering if there was more between Snape and Lily. I thought maybe he was in love with her, I didn't expect them to be childhood best friends. This made me feel really bad for Snape. A tragic love story.

Totally changed my opinion on him. I didn't expect it, but it all made sense. Snape was a good guy in the end because he really did have a soul, thanks to Lily. She always put him in in place, and helped him find the line between good and bad. Yeah he was mean to Harry, but only because he looked like his James, and Snape resented that. He was lost without Lily in his life and became a death-eater, but tried to use that to his advantage to save her from Voldemort. The reason was never really stated in the book why he became a death eater, but I suspect it was simply to fit in somewhere, seeing as how he was such an outcast. I really liked Snape in the end especially when he cast his Patronus my heart sank! =]

More surprising was that Lily felt much the same way for Snape for some time. After book five you kinda had to wonder about Snape possibly being intrested in Lily, but it was easy to dismiss this notion with how he reacted towards her after she ordered James to put him down in his memory. So it came as more of a "Huh, so Snape did care for Lily. But WOW, Lily cared for Snape." type of thing.

I was in awe of Snape. I never realized it, but oh-my-gooooodness is he so awesome. I hated Snape, I was convinced he was a bad guy, and it was totally changed around. GO SNAPE!
Anyways, back on topic.... I think its awesome that he loved Lily so much that he saved Harry's life on numerous occasions even though he resembled James so much.

I always thought there was more to Severus than meets the eye . He one of the best drawn characters in the series that grows over time . It was really moving to learn the truth that he was a really sensitive soul who supposed hatred of Harry was because he was not his son and he looked like the bully of his childhood . He fell for Lily on day one i believe because she did not mock him because of his poor background or disheveled look. He got drawn in by the Death eaters for a while but love conquered and returned to the light and redeemed himself.

I thought it was so sweet and selfless that he could devote his life to protecting the son of someone he loved and someone he hated!
He's one of my favorite characters...I absolutely love Snape.
