Call me crazy, but I believe that -real- men not only don't gauge their masculinity based on their food prefrences, and neither do they care if others do or not.

Some men are so insecure (or afraid of being called gay) that they think they can't eat a salad or quiche or whatever.

Those are the men who are just too insecure to be themselves. A real man can be sweet to cats, nice to his wife, and eat tofu.

In my opinion, a real man is one who does what makes him (and his loved ones) happy, and doesn't give a rip what anyone else thinks about that.

Like, when my husband holds my purse (just for a minute while I'm putting my coat on or whatever). He doesn't panic and hurry to give it back to me. He doesn't worry what anyone is thinking. It's not that he's enjoying carrying a purse, but he just doesn't care if someone thinks it's stupid.

I would agree with you people (men and women) should have the choices to like/dislike whatever they choice whether it's food, colors, clothes, etc., and to not be classified or categorized because someone else doesn't like it or find it 'feminine enough' for a 'real lady' or 'macho enough' for a 'real man' because they are expressing their true self. I believe that society has become too big on this 'if you don't do this or like this then you do fit in' crap and it is leading to very poor self-esteem for everyone because they always feel like a failure when they try to be themselves.

Meat is a manly meal. Quiche is made of egg which is like a watered down meat substitute.

Masculinity seems to be on a sliding scale. That might be the issue. It's relative. If you ate nothing but quiche but were in a room filled with vegetarians, you'd be the manliest man in the room. Doesn't matter if you were in a room with people who ate raw meat off freshly hunted buffalo they would be more manly. There is plenty of elbow room between being the manliest man alive and not being a real man really.

It's just one of those things, toughness comes on a sliding scale as well. Doesn't matter how tough someone is, there is always someone tougher. Doesn't mean they aren't tough.

But at the end of the day, if someone actually believes that eating a meal that is not the manliest meal they can find excludes them from being a "real" man, then they probably aren't that secure in their masculinity.

The manliest thing is doing what you want to do and not caring what other people think.

I don't think it has anything to do with anything. But eggs are f'n awesome. They're possibly the most perfect food ever.

Quiche, on the other hand, in spite of the fact that it's made of eggs ... not a big fan.

I thought eating eggs WAS manly, anyway. Weren't men supposed to eat 10 raw eggs a day, like Gaston in Disney's _Beauty and the Beast_? My dad always ate a ton of eggs, raw and cooked.

Nothing. The definition of manhood (except for the fact that all men have a penis, which we can all agree on) is entirely subjective. You can eat quiche whenever you want. It's supposedly very good.

Don't listen to other people's "rules" on what makes men men. I've heard some of the stupidest stuff in my life about this topic like men don't wear pink. Some guys really look good in pink. I've also heard real men don't use hair conditioner or a blowdryer...please, it's all ignorance. It's what's in a man's heart that makes him a man, not what's in his stomach.

What you put in your mouth says nothing about gender.

Gender is in the mind & between your legs.

In addition, what makes a "real" man or "real" woman even, is completely relative. Each individual would have a different ideal of what qualities the respective gender should possess.

I'll eat anything, and the last time I checked food didn't determine your masculinity your actions do.
Maybe he's insecure and doesn't want people to notice.

I haven't the foggiest and as for Quiche I never even tasted it.
Perhaps it's just some social joke or something.
